I suggest having, next to the "send e-mail" button
a forced-choice [must pick one] option:
[] e-mail from anyone on hobokencafe is ok
[] only e-mail me if we have met in person

Or better yet, why don't people just simply write down their e-mail preferences in their profiles...That would have helped out my case a lot...I'm not an f***ing mind reader! I WAS JUST TRYING TO MAKE FRIENDS!

There already is a box in the profiles section that you must actively select that says "let others send me e-mail" so the default is that other people can't send you e-mail.

I second Daphna's suggestion.
Liss, the current e-mail option is not the same thing.
What Daphna is suggesting it to say is: "I will accept mail from people that I've met before". I hated to shut off my e-mail option, but felt like it would make things easier. There are some cool females(that I could be friends with) that I've posted with. I wouldn't care if I received e-mail from them & we haven't met. I guess I can try to seek them out (to give them my e-mail address).
