No, Christine, you aren't. I am unemployed too. I've taken to answering the question, "So what do you do?" by saying, "O, currently I'm a stripper for blind and deaf men" and smiling.

It speaks volumes about a person if they know I'm kidding. :)

I'm in public relations. I'm especially tired of the first interview, second interview, and weeks of no contact. What with the "employment at will," which basically means they can fire you for no other reason but the fact that they don't like your face, it's a wonder that companies are trying so hard for the "perfect match."

Why interview 100 people, I think, when you have a perfectly good candidate, willing to give 110 percent? If it doesn't work out, fire me. But at least give me a chance.

Mary,

So, there are THREE people in Hoboken, that have experienced being Unemployed!

That's a funny response to what you do for a living.

How long have you been out of work? I agree... the interviewing process is torture. Employers, in my Industry, seem to hire the person that will work for the least amount of money. I'm not that desperate yet.

Well, maybe someone on here will see that you are looking for a Public Relations position and give you a good lead.

I think that is a very good profession. How much money do you make being a stripper for blind and deaf men?

I hear you, Christine, re: the person who will work for peanuts gets the job. Fortunately, I haven't had that this go around. And yes, I welcome any PR leads, as well as editorial/writing leads.

I don't make nearly enough, GM. Those seeing eye dogs bark when their owners try to give up money to me. And sometimes I have to position the garter so low, it's down around my ankles. :)

Mary-

There was an ad in last week's Voice for a new Entertainment(?)magazine, located in Hoboken. I e-mailed another Writer(from the Boards) about this. She didn't let me know if it was good or not. They interviewed last Sat.
