Description: The Program Manager role "lives" in the Engineering world of DemandTec. This person owns the implementation of a DemandTec product or significant product revision. He/She interacts significantly with Product Management, Engineering, QA, and Professional Services (DemandTec's consulting arm). Day to day responsibilities include shepherding various constituents through the Product Development lifecycle; identifying and closing both business and technical issues; defining and managing scope; and navigating the path from generating business requirements to rolling out the product to Customers.
DemandTec is a well-funded start-up in the DBM (Demand Based Management) space. DBM is a relatively new approach to helping Retailers and Manufacturers manage pricing, promotion, and related business processes. DemandTec's DBM platform utilizes data management processes, econometric modeling, optimization science, and web based technologies to accept critical business data from Customers and provide pricing and promotion strategies.
DemandTec has revenue generating Customers and exciting opportunities in the marketplace. This is a great role for people who have played the APM or PM role at Sapient. As DemandTec is early in its life (two year old company), this person will have an excellent opportunity to shape the Product Development methodology and supporting business processes and possibly take advantage of opportunities in other areas of a growing organization.
Requirements: - Understanding (2+ years) of software product development from defining business requirements to rollout
- QA and/or testing experience for two or more significant projects
- Ability to run a virtual "Program Office" - matrix manage stakeholders including Product Managers, Developers, IT Administrators, Power Users, and senior level managers to roll out a product
- Understanding of server and client side technologies required to support a complex web based application; experience with technologies/tools such as AIX, DB2, Apache, Java, JBoss a plus
- Communication skills to take fundamental business requirements and translate those to actionable functional and technical requirements
- Ability to prioritize and triage both business and technical issues
- Experience (2+ years) in bug triaging using tracking tools and facilitating bug reviews
- Deep experience in facilitating team sessions in terms of defining objectives, mapping tactics to objectives, and following up to ensure success
