This past Saturday, Bush finally signed legislation ("Job Creation and Worker Assistance Act of 2002") that extends unemployment benefits and cuts taxes for businesses in order to stimulate the economy.
This new law provides up to an ADDITIONAL 13 weeks of temporary extended unemployment benefits nationwide for those who have exhausted their regular benefits. BUT, (there's always a "but") it only applies to residents of states with unemployment rates above 4%.
Keep the faith, guys!

I do believe that NY and NJ is above 4%. I definitely know that NY is above 5% right now. However, if you live in NY but you were fired in NJ (and collecting from NJ unemployment), I wonder how that applies.
