I ended up getting rehired by the company that laid me off last November & for $10k more than what I was making.....very cool! I "unofficially" started today. I guess I have to start going to bed early now.

Mike, I guess you can scratch this board now. No-one seems to post here anymore.

Wow... I'm also encouraged... 8 months is a long time, and while I'm freelancing now, I've been out for a little longer than that. The layoff sucked, but I have faith that it'll turn around.

It takes a while to find the right job. I'm not one to take just anything. I received 4-5 offers, two from good companies, but the salary was too low. I refused to work for less than I was making before I was laid off.

I did take a job for a company(in Garden City, LI) that could pay the salary I wanted, but it ended up being a mistake (Retail Manager....ugh), so I resigned after a month which of course made me lose my Unemployment for three months. This was rough!

In my Industry, Wholesale is the way to go.....no weekends or Holidays!

I ended up getting Rehired by the compnay that laid me off last Nov. for $10k more than I was making AND I pointed out that since I was a "Rehire", maybe my Benefits could be reinstated & they were!! They just adjusted my start date(I was with the comapany for over a year)and I got back everything......Medical, 401k, vacation, PD's, & sick days back to where I left off.....very cool!

Why don't you post what type of job that you are looking for? Maybe there are some leads for you! I got a few leads from here!
