Hi gang. Well, it’s time. My car is over 17 years old, it’s small, and despite my emotional attachment to it, I’m starting to get self-conscious about it. The only thing I’ve owned for longer is my Swiss Army knife, which I got for Christmas in 1975 (and which disappeared last October under suspicious circumstances. However, I digress).
I plan to sell sometime in mid to late March. I’m posting this here to get the word out. Maybe someone you know is a college student or something, and needs cheap reliable transportation.
I think it’s very dependable. I went skiing two weekends ago up in the Catskills and I got there and back no problem, which is more than I can say about a friend’s 92 Jetta. And it’s still a fairly smooth ride at 80 mph.
The engine and body are still good. There is no rust and no major dents or dings. The belts (including the timing belt) were replaced less than two years ago along with the AC. I’ll be taking some digital photos once I get it cleaned up and prepped for sale.
Someone referred to me or can otherwise claim “friend of a friend” status can have it for $950.
I will likely be buying its replacement via carsdirect.com. I will report back on my experience.

The ad will go something like this...
87 Civic DX hatch automatic. Original owner selling his very reliable first car featuring 125K miles, no rust, no accidents, all maintenance records available, just passed inspection on the first try, as usual. Metallic light blue. Had a brake job and the AC rebuilt 2 years/5k miles ago. Includes a pull-out cd player. I’ve always parked off street so you won’t find lots of dents and dings. You know all those tiny parking spots you think you can't get into? Guess again. It’s in excellent condition for a 17 year-old car. I can prove it with jpegs. If this wasn’t such a great little car, I would not have held onto it so long. KBB says $1300 (retail) but I’ll take $1100.
