Hello everyone
I have the shell of my website up at http://www.robsreiki.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/
It is still very much under construction.
Please take a look. I know it works in Internet explorer and Firefox, but I am interested to know if it also works ok in other internet browsers.
Namaste

Hi Rob,
I also like the colors and font style. The fingers near touching graphic is great. I also like the fading in and out circle effect and the tinkling of chimes sound. Looking good.

Hi Donna
I was worried about the chimes getting on people nerves (LOL) I could reolace it on some pages with a good stereo version of a light sabre (LOL). I have also added more content today.

really nice job!!
like the other girls, i agree the colours are great. the background complements that bluish tone you used on usui's hair. very harmonious and clean-looking, pleasant font. i'm viewing this with sound off (public library, shhh! ;) so cannot comment on chimes. but that's what volume control is for, right?
all well viewed in safari on a mac. loads quickly with highspeed connection -- will try again from home dial-up, so i can give a proper report on useability.
good on you!
but you need a more personable photo, methinks -- while uncle rob looks "kewl", i'd want to see the face of a reiki practitioner online before making an appointment! ;)
cheers

Hiya
Yes I agree about the photo. I'm waiting for a good hair day LOL, unless I use the one from my profile, which I am also told dosn't do me justice.
I am in the process of writing page 2 of the site. I have it all in my head, but will it go down on paper (LOL). Was talking to friend the other evening. She was the same when she was doing her site. Then 4 oclock one morning she just got up and wrote 6 pages of text.
I should just get on with it and stop procastinating I know (LOL)
Thanks for the feed back.

about website creation, i work as a writer sometimes, and i've also dragged my feet about a website -- typical writer! oh well, some day.

Hi Lunarreikin
Oh yes the good old art of dragging ones feet (LOL).
The words are by far the most difficult part of this project for me, not that I normally have that problem (LOL).
I have done this site in front page, without having any real knowledge of HTML code (very basic understanding in fact, like I know it's there lol)
They can be done in Word or powerpoint as well. Powerpoint will give you more effects than word.
The creative side of it is not a problem for me, but getting to know how the program works is by far the most frustrating side of it. The version that is up there now is version 5, the others didn't do what I wanted them to (LOL).
If you need any help with yours please ask.
I'll even tell you how I got my halo (LOL)
Namaste

Hi Rob,
I just checked out your page and I like it very much thus far. Very clear and uncomplicated. The kanji was broken up a bit for my browser but otherwise was perfect.

Nice work, Rob!
One little nitpicky thing (because I'm an editor and grammar freak)
"Rob's Reiki Page's" - no apostrophe in Pages.
:)
The site looks really nice! I like the page transitions.

rob,
i may take you up on that offer sometime, thanks.
all's well with your site when loaded via dial-up -- not too long to load, and i appreciate it when a site's initial loaded images/buttons/hyperlinks give an option of navigation, and also describe what the site's about. sites that have this important info loading _last_ after a _lot_ of images taking a long time to load, can be annoying.
cheers!

Hi
Yes I agree. I know that I need to tweak some of the things I have done on my site, so that it loads a bit quicker for dial up users. I am told that the first page can take 20 seconds or so. Now that for me on a 1mb download is an eternity (LOL), so he sound effect and the transition (circle out) will change a bit. That even with my down speed dosn't get me to the navigation quick enough (unless I am using firefox, where it is straight in)
Did you find my hidden gallery at all. This is a temporary feature with thumbnails to a coiple of pictures tha look nice on the desktop, or on tne wall (LOL) The link is on the fisrtpage on the top left hand corner (Click on the fingers LOL).
Thanks for the feedback
Namaste

Rob,
Hi,
I noticed that when the site first opens Rob's is missing the apostrophe - reads: Robs Reiki Website
I like the simple opening page.
Keep at it.
Cheers,
RC

rob,
You are welcome. In graduate school I actually made a few extra quid as a proof-reader. But that was years ago before word processing, spell and grammar check, etc. These days I usually read right past stuff like that having become something of a 'puter potato'
lol
Cheers (a bit of fish to go with the chips)

Hi Rc
there are times when the speeling and gramma checking misses stuff. It certainly didn't catch the lack of an apostary (LOL)
Also a number of words appear to be missing from microsofts dictionary, so I really have no idea if I have spelt them correctly (LOL).
The art of proof reading should not be lost

rob,
Hi.
And how long did it take to compose that Post?
lol
And, just try to pass composition like that through any Email or Word porcessor with a spell check and you'll know just how important spelling can be for efficiency's sake, if nothing else.
lol
Of course, one can turn the spell check off but then your correspondents may wonder if you might be 'de-composing' just a tad.
lol
But, yes, the brain is pretty amazing. I wonder if the same would hold true for chinese characters. Would characters with the middle sections reversed be cypherable? Would writing hebrew, read right to left, as you did english be discernible in the same way?
Leads one to believe a bit more in Chaos theory.
Cheers,
RC
