Sweet! I always knew that Usui and Ueshiba crossed paths. So Aikido sprang from the combination of brute force and Reiki? Until the fateful Reiki Treatment, all Ueshiba was doing was pushing boulders and sitting under freezing waterfalls, right?

Actually, I owe you thanks, I just got something about this year in my life. Reiki and Aikido, two new passions which I'm having trouble sustaining at the moment, or not sustaining, but trouble progressing. Must mean I've forgotten to "do the work" again! I tend to be on fire at first with new things and then lose steam when they don't lead directly to Nirvana. Just a habit.

Would I be correct in assuming that this is a reply to
"The Empowerment Symbol -- Shinto connection" thread on the Reiki Discussion message board?

BTW a caution re: tales of interaction between Usui Sensei and O-Sensei Ueshiba - one account of their meeting (in Japan) apparently took place during a time when O-Sensei Ueshiba was actually on a military campaign in China!!!

I'm fine, really, if they didn't actually physically cross paths (sniff! <wipes away tear>). But it seems that something highly creative and magical was going on in that region around that time. And I'm thankful for the resulting bounty in my life!

I was not suggesting a direct link between O-Sensei Ueshiba and Reiki.
