Hi ya everyone
A couple of weeks ago, I finally got hold of a copy of The Reiki Source Book. I have to say out of all the Reiki books on the market, this is a must have, It has absolutly everything in it, the authors must have had to dig into the depths of the earth to come up with some of the infomation they write about. I am only a quarter of the way through my copy, but it is very in depth......maybe could be a little daunting for the absolute beginner, but a great read for anyone who inderstands Reiki. I was pretty amazed to find that Mr Usui actually attuned many people and not just the one, like we have been led to believe. In fact there is a whole lineage chart and Mr Usui still has living attuned relatives....some of them over 100 years old.
It really is a very interesting book and the history of Reiki is not like we thought it was.
In fact I love it so much that I have deciede that when I get my Master Attunement in September, I am going to give this to my students along with a manual.

Hi Aura, namaste ...
I have just got hold of a copy myself, and can`t wait to find time to go through it properly, it looks so interesting.
I am running a Reiki 2 weekend tomorrow and Sunday,so will take it along, as the chart which shows the development of all the different branches of Reiki is very informative.
I suspect a lot of what is in there we will have read elsewhere, I notice they credit Vinny for starters!
But it is a very interesting idea to produce the book, and I suspect it will prove to be very useful to have all the information in one place.
Love and light,
philanty

Aura,
/*\ Namaste :-}}
- I do not have a copy yet but am curious how, if at all, the Stiene's cataloguing and interpretation of history differs from Petter's, Rand's, et al.

From what I can understand, the authors of this book have contacted living relatives of Usui, and seen some papers from him.

Hi Firekeeper, Namaste ... :>}}
It is different ... it is not straightforward in the way Petter`s and Rand`s are, in that their versions are their own thoughts on history as they see it ... in fact The Stienes do not really give that much of an interpretation ... more just the cataloguing...
they give everybody else`s versions, with credit where it is due ... so that by referring to the book, you can get an overview of a wide range of views from the varying branches of Reiki, and also how they developed.
I found it interesting, detailed and also informative and I felt they had gone to a lot of trouble to research extensively to get the maximum information.
I am still reading it, so cannot give a total overview at this stage, but have to say I am very glad I got it.
It would be interesting to see what you think after reading it :>}

philanty,
/*\ Namaste :-}}
- thanks for a quick overview.
- I have to wonder, though, that if they simply catalogue what is already known and has already been written then one still must rely on the authorotativeness of the sources they include.
- now, if the Stienes add some new stuff (as Aura intimates) that has some authenticity then this would be worthwhile. But unless it is substantial I am not sure I need to buy a compendium just for a few pages of supposedly "newly revealed" stuff.
- I think for the moment I will listen to what you (and others) might have to say about it before buying.

Hi Firekeeper!
Nope it is not a catalogue of already known stuff and yes is well worth a read!
Frans and Bronwen Stiene do extensive research first hand, they are tireless and never take anything on face value and thats why I love this book and The Japanese Art of Reiki book so much. I also love the fact that they dont dismiss anything until they have researched it for themselves and are clear wether it is not part of Reiki etc. Its nice to get an unbiased view point.
I picked up the Japanese Art of Reiki first and it was at a time when I was not sure about certain things I had been taught, some things just didnt 'sit right', after reading the book things just all fell into place for me, they made sense. Thats why I went on to read the Reiki sourcebook and as I say if you are looking for a well researched and unbiased book that tells it like it is then go get a copy and check it out for yourself, its worth it :) cant recommend them enough.
with reiki blessings, Reikilight
