Hello Everyone,
Namaste...
Is anyone doing the online book study, "A New Earth - Awakening to Your Life's Purpose" with Oprah and author, Eckhart Tolle?
I'm reading the book now and though it's deep, I'm finding much that is helpful to me.
I even had an "Ah Ha!" moment.

Just curious, if anyone is signed up, too.

Ponderings,
Namaste...
Eckhart Tolle has written many books that may be of interest. He has also written, "The Power of Now" which is a huge seller.
In "A New Earth", he goes into the subject of "ego" a great deal, and it has deepened my understanding of it. I'm thinking this will help with my Reiki work as well, helping me to keep my ego "in check". (Harder sometimes than I'd like to admit!)

We're all just here learning...
Blessings,
Mammabear

Hi Mommabear!
I know you posted this awhile ago and I also read your other thread debating "the how is more important than the what". Good points :)
But, since I am new here I'll just pick up on this topic :)
I am reading "A New Earth" now and I find it facinating. To dive in to you previous dicussion(late :)) I belive that what may be ment by "the how is more important than the what" is based upon the prespective of being "present".
If you are working from the ego, then the how is no more impotant than the what, or the why or when or anything else. It would all be ego driven and only ego serving. Yes?
However, if you are/can do what ever it is you are doing and be "present", if what you are doing is truely NOT ego driven then the how is ALWAYS more important that the what as the "what", not being ego driven, would not be selfserving, not be cruel, not be hatefull, etc. What do you think?
If you like Tolle's "A New Earth" then I can recommend a website with a similar topic although from a more "Christian centric" perspective. A gentlemen by the name of Dick Rauscher of Stoneyhill (I am not sure that I am allowed to post the link on here?) has a great series of articles related to "the primitive ego". You migth find it interesting :)
If you can't find his site send me an email :)
Love and Light!

Jim,
Namaste...
Thank you for your posting. And welcome to the cafe.
:-)
Yes, being present is what I meant. I like the old saying, "Before enlightenment, chop wood, carry water; after enlightenment, chop wood, carry water." to make the point of it's not the "what" you do...
I have learned so much from that book about "ego" and the impact it's been having in a variety of areas in my life...without my realizing it, really.
I have had several "healings" from the first reading and am on the second now, along with watching the online book study with Oprah and Tolle and found that very helpful also in getting a better grip on the text.
Thank you for the reference and yes, it should be posted on the resources board. But a good "googling" should get me there. I have heard the name, but have not researched anything about or by him.
I'm still "chewing" on this book...lol, so we'll see when I'm ready to move onto something else. lol
Thanks again,
Abundant Blessings,
Mammabear

Mammabear,
I am also "chewing and reviewing" as well and downloaded the transcripts of the Oprah classes and have just started reading them. The book has examples that resonante well with me and I try to stay aware daily.
As far as Dick Rauscher and Stoneyhill, yes a good google will get you there :)
Love an light!
