Hi all,
Had 2 dreams with bears last night. The first was a short one. In a dark room, maybe a cabin of some kind on a flat prarie, I open the doors to let out the dogs & I hear bears roaring to the left of the cabin & I hurry to get the dogs (large, black & long haired) inside but they run away & I have to close the doors so the bears dont get in.
The next dream, Im in a large multi layered house, quite intricate in detail, maybe built into the side of a mountain. I remember alot of wood & glass, rooms, doors, cabinets, gardens with rooms above, very unusual. My mother ( not my real mother) in the dream is there & others I cant identify. My dog is there & I look up & see a bear breaking through a skylight on an upper level. I bring the dog inside & alert my mother & the others . The rest of the dream is about all our efforts to keep the dog inside & the bear outside.
Any ideas?? (Just before I awoke I saw myself open a car door & look down to see a scorpion run across the seat. When I woke up & got upright, there was a medium sized wolf spider on the wall close to my head. By the time I found something to capture him in & let him go outside, he was gone from the wall. He was real, I saw him earlier in the week in another room).
peace & joy,
holobon

Hm. My first very general instinct is that the bears represent a fear of some kind, and you are protecting those you love from an outside source. Are you trying to protect your children from something in the outside world ( I don't even know if you have children)?
Of course, you really have to look at this in the context of your own life and thoughts. Bears in my dreams tend have a very different meaning, but from your description they seem to represent fear or danger.
Blessings, light, and understanding,

Otoharo!
Holobon, I have discovered that dreams are related to the energies current in our periphery. Your dreams seem a continuation of the theme of choice. Bears in their search for honey break into what we think is a safety aracade. They are not after us, but they have learned we keep stores of honey and they search for it. They only are a danger to us when we obstruct them from their honey.
My partner had gone out of her tent in the middle of the night to pee when a large balck bear came up to smell. She calmly told him to go on and leave her alone. And he did. Her tent mates did not believe her until others in the larger camping area had been terrified by a bear crashing in on their food stuffs. My partner had insisted that no food stuffs were in their tents before they slept that night. So the bear went on to find the food elsewhere. Bears only defend their food source or their cubs.
Looked at from this light, so and the bear are much alike. You dog is you cub. You do not defend you food supply. You do not speak of defending even yourself. You, too, seem to be a bear. Does that ring a bell?
Likewise, the scorpian is only after the welcoming smell of you shoe, to cuddle in for sleep. It is not out to get you. It may defend its confiscated territory. (I had them along the folds in my tent many years ago. We coexited for a year without mishap.)

Fighting off or killing a bear suggests victory over hostile opposition. Since both dreams have the bears on the outside getting in I would suggest that you in a current situate were someone is hostile towards you and you are currently battle against them.
The scorpion in your dream is a warning of danger from treacherous friends or associates, especially if you killed it; however, you will overcome the hostile influences if it bit you.
As a general rule dogs in a dream are a good omen and symbolize friends. Of course the interpretation varies according to the action and other details but is fairly straight-forward. If the dog was friendly and affectionate, it signifies pleasure and happy times with friends; a fierce or snarling dog suggests disagreements or untrustworthy friend; and if it bit or attacked, you are being warned to look out for actual deceit or harmful trickery from someone you have trusted. To hear a dog bark happily signifies pleasing social recognition, but if it barked fiercely, you are being warned of possible legal troubles, so don't fiddle your taxes or park your car too close to a hydrant. To see dogs fighting indicates that you may be called on to arbitrate in an argument between friends, in which case you must be extra tactful to avoid ending up the odd man out. If the dog in your dream was an exceptionally large one, it signifies protection through a powerful friend.

The spider is my totem, so your last line in your message struck a cord with me....
"By the time I found something to capture him and let him go outside, he was gone from the wall.
The wall represents a projection. Your dream series is about capturing, seizing an opportunity that is awaken in your upper consciousness. The bear (you) is hungry after a period of hibernation....
The multi-layered house built on the side of a mountain....strength...in this house you had to "look Up" into the skylight....and see the bear....
You must recognize the bear within
You may be facing what you think is a dangerous move...but you are capable of handling the situation...you must move forward "opening the car door" ....don't let your fears keep you trap!

After a few days of letting bears seem into my consciousness, I decided that a fear was making itself known after a period of hibernation & it is time to deal with it.
Espirit, I just read your post and you captured the relationship of the different elements. I realized that the spider was key when I awoke that morning but couldnt see why.
Perhaps it takes a village to make sense of dreams!! :)
peace & joy,
