Hi all,
Now it is rare that I ever remember my dreams but this one was very clear and quite bizarre. I am left wondering about it...
We had an elderly lady staying in our house, we didn't know her and she seemed overly critical of everything we did or said. Meanwhile a shed at the bottom of our garden(we don't actually have a shed in our garden) was full of corpses, I was conscious that these bodies were being stored here but no one had harmed them ie they had died naturally(I am wondering if recent events in Asia were playing themselves into my dream). The old lady kept going to the shed to eat her dinner, preferring to eat there than eat with us. In the dream I remember being worried that the bodies would be decomposing badly and being terrified of the smell. I kept going to call the old lady back from the shed, but could not look at the bodies(I was afraid). Then I was frantically trying to contact medical establisments to see if they had body bags for the corpses. This is where my dream ended and when I woke up.
Anyone any ideas about this odd dream which for me bordered on a nightmare?

Otoharo!
Helen, In my dream work, the symbols are so specific to the one dreaming that is difficult, perhaps impossible for someone else to interpret it. In our system, all persons are very likely aspects of ourself. Buildings, houses, etc. were either our own bodies, or our buinesses or something like that. A organization of our own. In this light, the old woman is you, the you is you, the bodies in the shed could also be the yous that you have outgrown, healed or otherwise discarded. Or they could be past lifetimes.

Hi Finality,
Namaste.
Thank you for replying. I hadn't thought of it that way. I wonder if the bodies in the shed were aspects of myself that I did not want to acknowledge. I find dreams very puzzling! :)

Rainbow, you describe these bodies as decaying so they have to be past. The old woman is tied to the past in some way. What we have been in the past is not very relevant to the NOW. Perhaps you can simply release it all and look forward.

Helen,
/*\ Namaste :-}}
- any concerns or 'preoccupations' lately with "family tree", ancestry, family line, etc?
- or "skeletons in the closet", so to speak?
- though, from a Jungian perspective even the dead may be symbolic of "olde" aspects of ourselves - ghosts from the past, perhaps - or even remnanats of changes we have not really fully released
- the desire to put them in body bags might suggest the mechanisms of repression, supression, or denial trying to sneak in there which might well point to some issues that were "repressed" now being "dug up again", so to speak
- hope this helps

Finality,
Thank you, yes I believe that somehow the images in the dream are related to me and something that I need to acknowledge and release.

Firekeeper,
Namaste :))
Thanks for your input, its much appreciated.
A lot of what you have said has struck a chord with me. There are a couple of issues that I have been repressing, and although I am aware that I am repressing them, I am not quite sure how to release them or even that I want to or will ever be ready to release them....I think perhaps that is where the fear aspect may come in.

Helen,
/*\ Namaste :-}}
- it is said that in Tibet lamas, once they had passed from the living bonds, would have left instructions to have their bodies left out in the open, high in the mountains, to dessicate, feed the vultures, etc. This saves on burial space, problems with contaminating ground water, etc, etc
- so, in other terms, sometimes airing out the "shed" or "closet" and letting things dry up an blow away is not such an off-base' idea

Something else has just occurred to me too.
If as Finality suggested the old lady represents me, part of my dream was that the old lady kept going to the shed to eat her dinner. Now I have a real problem with food ie am fairly obssessional about it and have a weight problem. I am wondering then if the corpses are issues that I am trying to repress, whether this dream is a strong indication that my relationship with food and self image are linked to those same issues that I am subconsciously trying to 'bury'.

Helen,

- oh yes, in all likelihood the skeletons and the olde woman are symbolic of aspects of yourself, your psche, and psychological make-up\processes
- however, I would not council trying to starve yourself

I don't know - I interpret very differently.
We are usually all the people in the dream, just in different stages - you are the elderly lady being critical of yourself. It is your subconscious telling you that you are being too critical of yourself during your waking hours.
To dream of corpses is a dream of contrary in that it predicts a full and happy life if the corpse was that of a stranger. If your dream involved a number of corpses but without any particularly distressing aspect, it is a forecast of success where you least expect it. If your dream featured a medical examination of a corpse, such as an autopsy, it portends an unusual new and interesting experience to come. The shed equal storage.
So I read this as - your higher self is trying to tell you that you are being too critical with yourself, and storing up needless anexity. But if you let it go, and open yourself up some success will come to you. It is like your are holding yourself back from something you want to do, an inner turmoil.
