not a dream but sleep

This isn't about dreaming.
This is about sleeping and not being able to wake up.
The first few times it happened, it scared me something bad.
I can go to sleep durning the day and after awhile i start to come back to awareness but am not able to come fully awake.
I can hear things going on in the house, dog barking, kids talking, phone ringing but i am not able to come fully out of my sleep to where i can get off the bed.Sometimes i feel like I am paralyzed and cannot move.
I can go in either direction of going back to dreaming or stay in the half sleep/awarness state. I am aware of this and tell myself to wake up to no avail.
Anyone else do this?

I have had these experiences.
Never have worried about them though.
I just enjoy the sensation.
I have never had mine go on for more than 10 or 15 minutes.
And it does not happen often.
I might worry more if it did!

Once though when I awoke I really WAS paralyised. No joke.
I was sleeping at my moms on a hide a bed.
The bar had caused some temprary nerve damage.
I was fine after a soak in a hot tub.
Hide-a-beds are evil :-)

angelhair,

/*\ Namaste :-}}

- when you 'go to sleep' during the day is this intentionally lying down and going to sleep?

- are you taking any sort of prescription meds that might make you 'groggy'? Sme allergy meds can be quite bothersome in this manner (according to reports of friends who take stuff like Zyrtec)

- I don't like to sleep or nap during the day or evening because I always wake up feeling sort of "a 1/4 bubble off" - but never had the type of experience you describe

Hi firekeeper:

No drugs allowed besides a occasional tylenol. No prescripts nor illeagal ones.

I do get to on a rare occasion lay down and take a quick cat nap durning the day. This is when it happens.

It is like I get stuck in the in-between realms of sleep and wakefullness. As I said,I tend to panick which I know does not help. but to feel that helpless....

Yeah I knew a guy once who went to sleep and woke up and couldn't use his arm for two weeks.

the doctor told him sometimes that kind of thing just happens as wierd as it may seem.

I've had it happen but have no idea what it is.

I've heard that this is a good time to try to astral project. Like the body sleeping but we are aware in spirit.
We're out of sync so to speak. On the verge of an out of body experience.

Another explanation I've heard is that it's the mind waking up before the body. We become mentally aware before we're awake enough to get the body moving.

It used to frighten me but i'm calmer about it now if it does happen . And it's never been a frequent thing.

I've had it just happen i've also had it happen when I have a bad dream. I'm trying to wake up. Or drifitng back to sleep and the nightmare continues where it left off.

Usually I find my nightmares to be creepy but in a fun way. I used to watch alot of horror movies so as i got a lil older they became night time entertainment if I had one.
But some chill me to the bone and I just want to wake up. It really just depends on the specific nightmare. So sometimes I'll be aware I am dreaming and try to wake myself up through sheer force of Will.

Dear Angelhair,
This sounds worse than a nightmare. Have never had this happen & pray it does not.
It sounds as if the mind & the body are temporarily disconnected.
Could it have anything to do with astral flight or something in that realm?

peace & joy,
holobon

Otoharo!

Angelhair, what you described is not being in your body. You can not move the body or any of its parts when you are not in it. Sleeping is the time, we leave the body for our other important work. We are often reluctant to leave it to return to this world and this work.

In Inner Peace MOvement, we learned how to leave the body consciously, and obviously how to return consciously. It is simple. For instance, before our experiments, we were told to hold our dominant hand in a fist position pretending it was our parachute chord. All we had to do to get back into the body is squease the fist. Of course, some of us do all these things automatically.

There is nothing wrong in what you describe. Ego loves to befuddle us to interrupt what we intend to do. So your panic is the influence of ego. Ego can nto control this function, but only your panic about it.

You have at least one guide with you all the time, in your aura. Ask this guide to assist you. In fact, you have to give her permission to assist you, otherwise she just watches your machinations probably with a grin!

I've had this experiance.
It feels really werid. You are wide awake, yet the body refuses to move in any shape or form! It reminded me alittle on when I had spinal blocks for the caesareans for my children's births, only more extreme.
You can't even physically open your eyes!

The times it has happened to me is when I simply am exhasted and need the rest, like my body is telling me it simply cannot get up and go.
The easiest way to deal with it at the time is to simply go with it and relax. An enforced meditation in a strange way.
Ensure you are getting plenty of rest and looking after yourself on all levels would be my advice.

Love and Light,
Evie

I have had similar experiences over the last few days as I have been taking to bed during the day with pain. This morning was the worst yet. I was "awake" and could hear sounds about the house and neighborhood but could not move or talk. I also felt as if I had traveled and was going by a beautiful lake. Later in the morning I received a message from a little girl from the other side. She was standing on a pier on that same lake.

I used to have these times of paralysis happen all the time as a child. I am uncertain as to why they are returing except for the fact that I have been working hard on opening my third eye to work on my mediumship.

I do believe we have talked about this on the board before under "other than reiki". Worth a look.
