I had a dream in which I was living in a small house next to a river. My friends girlfriend called round to try and "patch things up" between us. She sat on my bed and made "comments" about me and my house. In the dream I felt alittle tense and nervous of her being there.
later my friend came to join us. They sat beside each other on the sofa. Outside there was noise, people dressed up in costumes and fireworks etc. I looked out and noticed a large group of people mucking around right next to the river.
I called to my friend and his gf,
"Someone is gonna fall in the river if they're not careful!"
Next there was a splash and 3 people where in the river. Everyone else just stood back shocked and watched. My 2 visitors just sat unconserned holding hands. I couldn't find a phone to call 999. I asked them to call the gf took out her phone and sat looking at it, as if she couldn't be bothered ringing. i rabbed the phone, dialled 999 and gave it to her askin her to tell them 3 people had fallen in the river. i got ready to head out and help. She didn't talk and hung up the phone. On my way out the door I asked her did she tell them, and she said that i should relax and she'd call in a wee while. The 2 of them kinda giggled to each other.
As I opened the door a guy came bursting in looking for help. I made excuses for my friend, saying he had hurt his leg and needed to rest it - even though he hadn't.
I went outside. Somepeople had chucked dingys in at the people, but not really helping. Some had got into the dingys to mess about instead of helping the drowning people.
Some people were carrying a long "rescue boat" I ran and helped them and we lowered it into the water. the 3 people who were drowning started to try and reach for it.
That's all I remember. Real feeling of anxiety and urgency surrounded this dream. It disturbed me.
What do you think?

eviemay,

- since more often than not the characters in dreams represent aspects of ourselves I would say you hit the nail on the head when you said: "Real feeling of anxiety and urgency surrounded this dream."
- this dream strikes me as primarily an anxiety based dream. Perhaps assess what is going on with your feelings about some long term aspects of your life?? Worries, etc??
- since no one actually drowned?? I might suggest that there might be some worries about starting new projects?? Making changes? Testing new waters, so to speak?? Feeling one might get "swept away" - with things out of control??
- I should also mention that making too much out of a single dream is not necessarily recommended - if you keep a dream diary then add this one and read back to see if there is a "thread" anywhere.

Dear Eviemay,
Just thoughts that came to mind after reading your post but mind you, Im just reacting to what I read, what this dream means to you from your perspective is of course another matter :
Anything changing about the way you perceive your relationships to those around you or is there an an issue that is starting to come between you & friends/family or the way you "see" them or your involvement in the world? Someone needs your help & those you expected would help you in this wont or you fear they wont? Selfishness vs selflessness? Internal changes that seem to seperate you from those you thought you were so close to?
Worry about something others are not acknowledging, but you know needs attention right away ?
Thoughts about, is it time to act yourself, no matter how someone else reacts?
peace & joy,
holobon

Wow.
You've both touched home with this one. Given me alot of food for thought, and helped make some issues alittle clearer.
Many Thanks.

usually when we look at answering a question. We can only see it through what is happening in our own lives. So what I'm looking at is you have a thing for this male friend. and you don't feel comfortable with his girl friend. You'r calling 999 this is a red flag emergency. But also there is another gentleman knocking at your door. So you have some karma with both of them. and it'll all work out in the grand scheeme of things anyway.

Aneliz, You have got it precisely in one! (Much as I don't want to admit having feelings for my friend.)
Thank you.

aneliz,

- you said, in part: "So you have some karma with both of them. and it'll all work out in the grand scheeme of things anyway."
- are you saying that our Karma will resolve itself? That we don't have to develop our insight? That others will work out our Karma for us??
- if we do not try to be mindful of what we feel, think, and do then it will be a great many reincarnations before we 'see the light' - if all we do is wait for it to all work out in the end anyway.
