hard time figuring this one out.

Namaste,
I dreamed about two women (both African- American) mother and daughter. The daughter just got a baby and was breastfeeding the child. The mother gave birth to a baby also and had to give the baby to her daughter for her to breast feed. Both babies were nursing with the daughter, but the mother's child died. Then I woke up.
Dreams can be so 'bizarre' if i may use that word.
The dream was so vivid and detailed that it has to mean something...
Anybody here who might have an idea?
sincerely, Murphy

murphy,

/*\ Namaste :-}}

- what "feeling" sense do you have during the dream? And, what "feelings" were attached to the characters while you were dreaming??

- interpreting single dreams can be quite tricky - this is why dream diaries can me so useful

- keeping what I have said in mind?? You might also delve a bit into Black Madonna symbolism and metaphor

Peaceful..... it was not upsetting at all, even the mother and daughter were 'at ease' with it.....

- Ok, but what were your feelings toward them as you were dreaming this?? Peaceful is not nearly detailed enough

- in dream diary language it might go: I am in a glade and here is a black woman with her daughter, etc etc - I feel as if something is wrong becasue one of the babies dies but I am not sad, etc, etc

- the narrative in dream diaries is in the present tense as if it is happening as one writes it

>:-}}

- it is the feelings we sense in dreams (our own or that of the other characters) that are quite important because they reflect this activity in the Unconscious and how it gets projected onto others, situations, etc. For example, is the black woman distressed over the death of the child? Is the daughter showing emotion?

- dream imagery is important also but somewhat sterile without the feeling content

- hope this helps

The mother and daughter were not upset about it .... they showed no emotion. Other than peaceful?? i have to say i was standing there watching them, i did not feel upset about it, or distressed. Indifferent would not be a good word for it I think. It is in a room with just them and me. I never see myself, I am looking at them, watching. I help putting the baby to her breast so he/she can nurse. The daughter nurses hers first, then I give her her mothers child. He/she does nurse.As soon as the baby dies, I look at the mother, and there is no sign of emotion on her face. I am puzzled by that...Then the dream ends and i wake up. So there were no strong emotions (if any at all) in this dream. I will do some more pondering on it.
sincerely,Murphy

hi Murphy,
Dreams can be a challenge indeed,???????????
but not all dreams 'mean' things......my husband is a prime candidate for this, he will have a dream & tell me about it the next morning...I listen..(I am no dream expert,) but he describes a lot of what he has seen on the TV, or heard on the news!(only in a round about diff: way!).or things he is a bit worried about..
think as to what you have been reading, what has really got at you on the TV, in discussions with others,what upsets you, what you dislike about this world, what you like about this world........ some times you can see the puzzle come to-gether this way,...sometimes not...
food for thought eh!, luv wendy x

Dear Murphy,
I can tell you what comes to my mind when I read about your dream but not what the dream means to you.
Breast feeding creates a close bond between mother & child. Emotional bonding as well as increased immunity protection from the breast milk. In poverty stricken areas there is no choice between breast feeding & bottle feeding & if the mother is not well herself or starving....most of us have seen those haunting TV images of starving babies. Perhaps there is some significance in the mother not being able to or not wanting to breast feed, for whatever reason, and giving the child to her daughter to feed. The baby dies..does that represent physical death? emotional distance? severing of the relationship? genetic issues? Seems as if the subject of family ties is being explored at some level.
Bizarre dreams can also be caused by too much of a good thing too close to bedtime: spicy foods or alcohol late at night! Or maybe too much dandelion tea? I knew someone who had nightmares after eating a whole box of tater tots! :)

peace & joy,
holobon

Well thank you for all the replies. Now I do not remember watching TV earlier that evening and maybe have seen something that triggered this dream. But i will pay attention to that next time I wake up after having a weird dream.
Sincerely, Murphy

- might there be any sort of grieving you might need to do now that you stashed away in the 'broom closet' at one time (maybe even years ago) and have left unattended too long??

firekeeper,I am sure I do.I know I have a block that i found out 2 years ago. Something from years ago when i was a little girl. For some reason it will not open up to me. Maybe the time has come.i was hoping to eventually get rid of the block with not knowing/remembering the event.
I am going through a transition again. I will start logging my dreams again, maybe I will find out more that way.
Thanks for your help ,I appreciate it very much.
I totally forgot to introduce myself to everyone here..
I hope that was not too rude of me.
love and light
sincerely, murphy

Murphy,

/*\ Namaste :-}}

- I felt that a Key in your dreaming was that (1) you were only watching and (2) that there was no emotion (the interaction of these features can well suggest repression of some signiificant material)

- I hope you are able to sort it out
