I dreamed that I was using a chisel to pull out each ceramic tile from kitchen and reinstalling the same thing using a different method. I love my kitchen floor, got it done a few years backa nd would never want to change it. Given that, what would be the broader interpretation of this dream?: wanting to change something else with my life?

Dear Mal,
Just thoughts:
If you are putting the same tiles back, the floor would look the same when finished...so, maybe it's the act of uncovering and redoing whats under the perfect floor that is your focus? could you be thinking about the method or materials used to arrive at the goal...going back, uncovering and reworking the underlying groundwork for something?? Have you remembered something you forgot to do that isnt obvious to anyone else?

- are there changes you want to make or feel you "should" make that you cannot seem to bring yourself to do?? You think about them a lot, maybe even obsess at times, but do not act??

- tiles on the floor might symbolize one of your Personas on which you might feel the need to "work"??

- to which Persona the tiles might refer would need some consideration - tiles are not flexible, they may be stylish and beautiful but at the same time fragile - tiles might also be thought of as more permanent than other "facades" which might be symbolized by paint or wall paper or?? So a more long-standing Persona might be involved

You guys hit the nail on the head. I have been obsessing about how to tell my six months "guest" that the services are now closed! I hope I can just do this in my dream and get it over with!!

On further thoughts, how does this dream help me in any way! I have asked for guidance/help for this and this dream is what I got. So it is back to my personal responsibility to do what needs to be done. Sometimes I wonder what is the use of dreaming what is already obvious to us in our conscious to us, other than help may be with de-stressing?

Dear Mal,
Will only answer for myself as far as dreams go: they help me to see into an issue. Some times a forgotten aspect or maybe something I want to forget/avoid...often a new way at looking at something or just a kick in the pants. And yes, dreams can help to bring something to the surface that has been dormant. 2 weeks ago awoke from sleep without any dream thoughts but with a remembered event from many years ago that has connection to a current relationship. What happens during dreaming & sleeping is quite a marvel, yes? :)
