Dear Friends,

Prosperity's post about the red boat makes me wonder about meanings of color in dreams. Sometimes, the colors stand out so much that I know they are an important part of the content.

Here's an example: I have a regular anxiety dream of having to move out of a place fast and move on. I have a lot of stuff to pack, not enough time, and not enough boxes or bags to carry stuff in.

Recently, after a very bad day, I had the same dream, but differently. This time, my brother was driving, and I knew he'd wait for me, so even though I had to go fast, I didn't have to rush. I had plenty of plastic tubs to pack everything in. As I packed, I came across old clothes that I forgot I had. What stood out was a very pretty, bright orange shirtdress.

My association with orange is the sacral chakra. Are there any other meanings?

- often in dreams when we encounter someone or something we have "forgotten" it reflects that we have been given a clue or aspect of repressed material

Dear FK & Roxy,
Thanks for bring up the meaning of color and what they symbolize and how things forgotten are things suppressed as I have had recurring dreams of high school when I forgot to attend a math class all term. I haven't had it for quite some time so hopefully I've dealt with it and the red in my previous dream of a boat made me think of survival root chakra energy. Could orange be a sexual color as isn't 2nd chakra sexual or is only 1st chakra sexual which is red.

- my reference to 'survival' included survival of the species, hence procreation (though admittedly I did not make this aspect clear)

- there are some variations in interpretation of which energies and organs are primary to which Chakras

- thus, in some traditions Swadhisthana may be associated with the impulse to sex and procreation but not to the sexual organs per se (leaving the sex organs to the Muladhara)

- but, I would involve Swadhisthana with the sexual organs to some degree since most people have not trained in distinguishing the energy from the physical structures - hence the association of the sex organs with 'sex drive' and Muladhara
