disconcerting dream

hello I have had two dreams last night that may or not be linked but have left me a bit unsettled. I thank anyone for input in advance.

The first dream was about purgatory. I came to check into this place. there was a time clock that needed to be punched and I was hestinat to do so bu tdid anyways I did not think I could turn back but there was a vague sense in me that it was like "Hotel California". There were lots of people here no one seemed to be unhappy or distressed . i noted that there were poeple doing normal things and enjoyable things to passs the time. There was a large ban quet hall and a show going on. we were well fed and in no rush. at one point, I asked some one about a mall because I wanted to get some clothes, I was told I would have to check in at the clinic. as I went by last table I saw my dear friend who had passed away 5 years ago. She waved to me smiling and then I had a real sense of where I was so at the cliic the "nurse " told me whar vitamins etc.. I needed to take. I had seen om the another person's chart a name of K. Nyman which I said I recognized as a deceased oncologist and I asked the "nurse"if they had need of her here and she said oh yes. we need everyone. another patient a man who looked pale was waitng to be seen. He seemed to be torturing himself by taking the blade of an ice skate and sticking it into his face and was dismayed that it would not bleed and his face was not disfugured. I asked the nurse one final question. Do we pray here? she looked at me funny and said well some do but really its'just those people in rm 301.in my mind in the dream I got a little bemused and ooncerned that this was some place a little darker. I did not want to alert her so i left and was looking for rm 301. End of dream 1

This feels more like a 'past life" experience as I began to be the person and see thru their eyes.
It is dark cool night in a cemeted city block(walled garden) there are amy people gathered in this courtyard . I do not seem but i know they are there. the main focus is of this secret ritual which is to take place. Thereis a large cross made out of either wood or bound hay and anoter type of cross (it is large made of hay witha a bird shape perhaps an eagle. on top and a half sunburst .These crosses are side by side. There is a dark haired man could be spansih, french . my sense is french. He is speaknig to the crowd. A young woman whos is dark haired and bound is brought into stand in front of the "crosses" . the Christian cross is set a fire. She is asked to denounce the cross and take allegience to to the sunburst cross. she is hesistant and does not want to do it. the man is angry and says he can do it without her consent is he can get a blood oath. He goes to unbind her and mark her with his ritual. Some how she is able to get away from him and she (who now I see thru her eyes) is fleeing thru a doorway down thru what appears to be the Paris underground. she does not know where she is going only that she must run for her life as she is being persued. There are may twist and turns. I woke up before I could find out what happeend. I felt very disturbed and was sweating a bit.

Otoharo!

I can not help you. I would like to share, however, wht I learned about the process of dreaming. the aim is to learn to become lucis so you can control your dream. we use our dream time to organize the next day. We want to be cognizant of what is being planned.

mainelyhappy,

/*\ Namaste :-}}

- from a Jungian perspective there are anxiety issues and perhaps themes related to feelings of guilt, penitence, mortality, and 'afterlife'

- also, from a Jungian perspective any number of the characters in the dream will be aspects of your own unconscious, hence of you (characters sometimes representing feelings, for example)

- the sunburst cross in its various forms appears prominently in catholic iconography (perhaps in other christian sects as well) - the roots of the sunburst are 'pagan' if I am not mistaken

- perhaps the co-appearance of what you call the christian cross and the sunburst represent some spiritual issues you have tried to suppress or have hidden away (repressed) - or perhaps they are not so hidden and you are being 'reminded of them by way of the dream

- renouncing one 'icon' (cross) in favor of the other certainly might support such a notion -the issue of being forced to do so also gives the dream an energy suggesting tension

- since it is woman (the feminine) at the cross and man (the masculine) trying to force his will upon her, one might say that your own masculine and feminine aspects may be in some turmoil at present

- but, how do you interpret the woman being singled out for "the ritual"?? A ritual lead by a man?? Is she being honored? Persecuted? What were your feelings in the dream if you are able to recall them?? Therein lies one of the values of diarying as soon as possible after rousing from a dream

- the ending of the second dream where the woman (you) is fleeing and feels lost might well represent the unresolved nature of the tensions of the unconscious around these and other matters

- I recommend sifting thru some symbolic interpretations of some of the key elements of these dreams - a good place to start, I would say, is J.E Cirlot's "A Dictionary of Symbols", 2nd Edition. You might also try Introduction to Dream Interpretation (20001, 2005) by Robert Winer, M.D. He takes a largely Jungian approach but from a more neo-jungian slant with which I do not always agree entirely.

- so, if you do not keep a dream diary perhaps you will begin one - the trick with a dream diary is to keep diary and pen at bedside and to write down all recollections at any time you may awake enough to know you have been dreaming - simply write your impressins as they flow through your mind - no later editting - though one may add "interpretations\impressions" - some people will write down their dreams on the left hand page and save the right hand page for later thoughts, etc

- hope this helps

Dear Mr. Firekeeper,

If there is a Jungian symbol in a shape such as a starburst, would that apply also to the five-pointed star shape? If so, would you be able to explain it's associations?

Blessings,
Ms. Roxy

Ms. Roxanne,

/*\ Namaste :-}}

- some take the 5-pointed star as the microcosm

- and the 6-pointed, double triangle as the macrocosm

- there is a drawing of the human form of a man, arms horizontal and legs wide apart, within the drawing of a 5-pointed star (perhaps based on Da Vinci's Vitruvian Man)

- or perhaps the star was superimposed on the man

- I am not sure in which frame of mind the render was at the time

Dear Mr. Firekeeper,

Thank you for the information. I think I have seen that illustration of the man's figure and the star. I'm wondering if originally the design of the star actually came from the human figure.

Blessings,
Ms. Roxy

What matters most is what you feel about the dream.

Healthy people have "bad" dreams to resolve issues as they sleep. Each character is piece of you celebrate and embrace your dreams. Are you repressing how you feel to be "good"?
Acting out to resolve What is it that you feel?

Listen to your heart.. Are you listening?

See how it can be funny or serious is there action to be taken. Each dream is your unconcoius talking ...Are you listening?
