I find myself, most recently, dreaming about family members, and situations that have long since past. Some, around my brother with whom I have not had contact in years. Other dreams are about my daughter, about whom I hold guilt during her growing up years.
I have worked with a therapist over family issues, never really going into specific depth with these situations. Is anyone out there qualified to tell me whether I should do deeper work with this stuff? Or are dreams of this nature to be expected?
I'm not depressed. I don't want to ignore stuff that I may need to work with; but neither do I wish to make a mountain out of a molehill. I raise the question as it's not usual for me to dream about my family members.
Why all the sudden?
Thanks!

Hi Janessa,
Have you been doing a lot of Reiki on your self recently? As you know Reiki is a wonderful growth opportunity and the more we use it, the more it leads us into self discovery. It helps to gently peel back the layers and let us look at those issues which we thought "weren't that big of a deal" but none-the-less are still things we need to work through.
As to whether you should go deeper with this, what do you think? What is your heart telling you?
In light and love,
Featherpoint

namaste,
One important thing to remember is that not all dreams about someone else is about that particular person.
I have dreams about family members quite often. I had to learn that about family members also. The subconscious works in symbols.
For family members think "relative". What is this "relative to?" Why is it "relative to you". What/who else was in the dream? Where was it located?
A friend once told me about a dream of mine when the car trunk was involved and I opened it...a trunk is a trunk is a trunk. What do we keep in trunks???
"memories!!!" Those we want to keep!
hope that helps.

janessa,
/*\ Namaste :-}}
- one view is that since there are, by your own admissions, olde issues still being "held"??
- the dreams are, then, not of the past but of the "now"
>:-}}
- and perhaps these dreams are showing up because you are more ready to deal with them - than in the"past"
>:-}}
- hope this helps

Thanks and blessings to each of you for your thoughtful and insightful responses.
Yes, I have been doing a fair amount of Reiki on myself over the past months, although not so much in recent weeks. Perhaps I am more ready to work through these issues more deeply, and although I'd touched their surface before, things don't feel totally resolved.
Regarding the symbolism of dreams, yes, I know that one can dream symbolically, and many times I do (although I can't always figure it out!). But, for myself, there are many times that my dreams are very clearly about specific persons, and the situations, feelings, etc. in my dreams relate directly. And these dreams fall into the latter category for me, now. The comment about "wanting to keep" certain issues - perhaps, I do in some manner - one, being held because it still doesn't feel fully addressed and/or resolved; the other (perhaps both) because I perhaps haven't been able to fully forgive myself. Does one need to go back into therapy to resolve issues for oneself?
