Hi. I was wondering if anyone could tell me what this could mean. This is only a small piece of a dream, but I woke up in the middle of the night and knew I should remember this.
I somehow subdued a small tiger (size of a small dog)and put it to sleep in a baby blanket and then placed it in what seemed to be a long window flower box. Then I watered the soil in the flower box (I don't think there was soil in there when I put the tiger in), and the little tiger became chilly and rolled over on its side, cuddled in the blanket, and slept.
Do you think there's meaning here for me? When I awoke, it just seemed such a strange thing to dream.
Namaste,
Starlight

Dear Starlight,
I cant tell you what it means but I will share my reaction to your dream for what my 2 cents is worth. Some consider the tiger to represent pride or ego. If this resonates with you then perhaps it relates to your exploration in Reiki, putting to sleep with love & care, the ego.
Or perhaps your maternal instincts have been surfacing lately? :)
peace & joy,

Hi Starlight,
Just the fact that you woke up and knew you should remember this dream could indicate there is some significant meaning for you.
You emphasize first a "small tiger" then "baby blanket", and follow up with "little tiger". Can you try defining just what "tiger" means to you then adjust that meaning to the reference of small, baby, little? In essense tweaking the definition of tiger in general to represent more of an "infant or younger" meaning.
Then once you have that figured out, you should be able to come up with a "conclusion" to your dream. Notice that you are providing nourishment, while you (young/baby/little tiger) is slightly chilled, rolls over but continues to sleep.
Hope this helps.
With light and love,
Featherpoint

Many thanks Holobon and Featherpoint. I'll have to think about the references you suggested. This one really stumps me--but maybe the meaning will come to me over the next few days.

Starlight,
/*\ Namaste :-}}
- I might set some Minfulness on your feelings that you had to subdue the "tiger" (which is of course symbolic for something or some dynamic)
- animals often relate to the autonomic system and drives such as hunger, reproduction, survival, etc
- a small tiger might suggest a "budding issue" or a larger issue that had been repressed for a while and has reappeared in a less threatening form
- yet, you still felt you were subduing it - that may be where to look
- hope this helps

namaste,
Ted Andrews says in Animal Speak:
Tigers represent Passion, Power, Devotion and Sensuality.
"Do you need more passion in your life? Are you expressing your passion imappropriately? Has your energy been down?"
A small tiger? Perhaps a passion for something that is about to grow, subdued for the present, but the nurturing side of you is watering it, letting it grow?
Interesting.

Thanks Firekeeper and Priestess for your thoughtful replies. Both of your comments combined do address issues in my life. Many years ago when I started a family I put aside my desires to have a singing career. I have recently been teaching singing and am still struggling with my passion for singing, my desire to not get into the stress of singing solo in public and the work it would take to do so, struggling with my love of being in the background and surrounded by only niceness and the need to progress in the opposite direction. I am nurturing the music, growing at the same time while keeping it at bay. I think I need more Reiki!!! I also am civic minded and volunteer for some groups and have the same problem in that I have great ideas and leadership skills but do not enjoy being in the limelight. I like getting things done, but then retreating. Tough issues to reconcile, but I suppose that is what personal growth is all about. I hope to be attuned to level 2 Reiki/Seichem this month, and so maybe that will act as a catalyst with all these things, as I think a lot are emotional issues.
Thanks. I would have never figured out the tiger dream, and now it all makes sense to me.
Namaste,
Starlight

Lovely dream! Very beautiful and auspicious. It's a blessing to make such a powerful friend in a dream.
In general, my experience with dream animals follows this pattern:
1. Run away! Fear of the wolf, bear, lion, whatever, just get away so it doesn't kill me.
2. Stand and fight. Vanquish the scary animal. Wake up feeling slightly guilty, resolve to make friends next time.
3. Make friends! This is the really nice and powerful part.
Sounds like you're almost past "2" and moving into "3" already. With such a strong animal as the tiger, that's really great.
Size doesn't necessarily matter, sometimes powerful things come in small packages.
You can return to this tiger in future dreams, if you want, and help it grow, or do whatever it is meant to do. Just voice your intent. If you have a really clear idea of what you want to do with it, say it three times, whenever the moment suggests.
Blessings,
Aronaya

Aronaya, I am fascinated by your interpretation. Does this make the tiger some sort of power animal for me to access in my sleep--like a totem of sorts? I'm very unfamiliar with dream interpretation but have been reading about Shamanism lately. How do I return to the tiger in future dreams? I've never tried to direct a dream. Do you just think heavily about it before you fall asleep?

Hi. I don't normally post my views, but I read your
posting and remembered that I had a dream last night
that included an adult tiger. And so I will share my
thoughts on the matter.
But first I must mention that information comes to
me in a timely manner from unusual sources.
Also, this is not a 'psychological' interpretation.
The latest series of informational updates have been
about the past/present/future status of our planetary
acsension. Much of this data has come from the
Niburuan Council website.
Your dream would indicate that, after ascension, your
spirit will be going to a feline species civilization.

Otoharo!
Starlight, I have found that animals in dreams represent feelings.
