Reikiki is the title of an important yet relatively little-known document associated primarily within the Shingon sect of Buddhism [although it is more properly related to syncretic 'Shinto-Buddhist' doctrines known as ryobu shinto or honji suijaku].

The document, said to have been written by the 9th/10th century Emperor Daigo (died A.D. 930) professes to be an account of a secret initiation received by the Emperor from a mythical being living in the pond of the imperial Shinsen’en garden.

The final 'ki' in the title Reikiki refers to a "chronicle" or "record" but is also simply a suffix indicating a written text, thus the title Reikiki can be translated as:

Hi James:

Thank you for posting to keep us abreast of your latest research. I found your article "fascinating"!! I had aboslutely NO idea about any of this. I am downloading the text of Professor Rambelli's paper for further study.

Somehow - depsite the lack of concrete proofs that the original 8th - 9th century text is related (in the physical universe) to Dr. Usui's work, it would make an intuitive "logic" if there were a relationship, as least at some level.

Blessings on all your work - kathleen (batwings)

Hi James,

I read this early this morning. It seems quite reasonable and possible that the evolution of rituals, ceremonies etc. as this article depicts can be all connected to Reiki as we know of it today. I am sure there is more to come for us to learn about. Thanks for posting this.
