I have found the most amazing writings and teachings by a North American Shaman (Choctaw descent) in a book called "The Shores Within" by Boe Glasschild (aka "bvsh polawa" or "Many Knives")
His teachings are currently being made available online at Creatrix Studios, the link which is below.
Having done some work firsthand with Boe's teachings and Celeste at Creatrix Studios, I cannot recommend them highly enough. I have been honoured to provide the artwork for Boe's books.
Hope you find something you are seeking!

I thought I might add, that Creatrix studio is quite a large site, containing so much information.
Reading the "Newsletter" section might be the most informative as to the upcoming Lightning Dance lessons.....

Here is a little information About Boe in case anyone is interested.
Boe Many Knives Glasschild is of Choctaw and African heritage. He is a tribal member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma and the president of ANASCA (The Alliance of Native Americans of Southern California). He resides in Mississippi, and lives his daily life in acknowledgement of these first Nation's ancestors. His Choctaw name Bushpolawa, means "Many Knives." He explains that a knife is a tool, and he has many tools.

Many Knives teaches a pathway of shamanism referred to as "Lightning Dance." It is the reclaiming of one's personal power through releasing one's internal baggage and reopening channels for creating personal miracles in one's daily life.

The Shores Within is an Adobe Reader e-book on shamanism and self-discovery. It contains stories, meditations, and the dialogue of Laughing-Dog-Red-Feather, a teacher of Spirit. He created this piece of literature based on his life as a shaman. The stories call attention to the magical moments in our daily life. He writes, "We have so much potential, yet we miss these moments as we have made the choice not to see these things. Now we change."
Boe Many Knives Glasschild can be reached at: CreatrixStudio@aol.com and at: Boe Glasschild, Creatrix Studio, P.O. Box 3775, Santa Monica, CA 90408-3775

(I would not normally post such a recommendation, but have found Boe to be of amazing integrity and his teachings are of profound wisdom and spiritual importance. His work is truly worth a look once it is released to the public)

this is a very informative overview of anthropological/philosophical shamanism.

This is of course non-tribal specific.
