sinus buster

For years I have dealt with sinus headaches, infections, etc. Have been to ENTs, allergists, etc. Take Claritin & for years despite my better judgement have relied on pseudoephedrine for drainage. Sinus infections zap my energy more than anything else Ive encountered. Lo & behold, I have been using Sinus Buster for more than a month & it works! You can read about it at www.sinusbuster.com. Basically it is an extract of chili peppers that you spray into your nostrils. Yes, the first few times it burns! But after that you barely notice it & it significantly reduces my headaches & promotes drainage. I dont know what the long term effects of capascin on the nasal tissue are but I have not used pseudoephedrine since I started using sinus buster & Im only using it as needed, not regularly. Just read that they have their first commercial, so guess the price will skyrocket. And yes, you do have to be desperate to put chile peppers up your nose!! :)

- it might be prudent to ask your ENT about capsacin applied directly in the sinus cavity - could do some damamge to the mucous membranes over time

- yes, it does promote drainage - my nose runs every time I eat food cooked with peppers at the hotter end of the spectrum

Trathnona mhaith (just checked me world clock)

rofl

Hot chilli - streaming eyes, nose and copious perspiration.

Re the sinus problem, I sympathise with you, holobon. I too suffered tremendously from sinus congestion. The area around my eyes would swell so much I could hardly see and was very painfull into the bargain. The only thing that would give any relief was Vibramycin from the Doc.

Then, following my first attunement, I could feel an attack coming on so visited the pharmacist to see if I could get something stronger than the usual sudafed, but was not able - only on prescription from the Doc.

So rather than wait the usual week or so, I went home and reiki'd myself for about an hour.

The following day, nose ran like a tap, pain and swelling disappeared and I have never had an attack since (Touch wood - bangs head furiously)

Good luck with your cure.

Holobon,

Another good sinus problem remedy is the Neti Pot. Sounds and looks not-so-appealing, but it works great!

Glad you found some relief!

Dear Brian,
Reiki has helped me with pain relief & drainage but has not "cured" me. It is unfortunately chronic & I have been through the antibiotic, more antibiotic, steroids etc routine. Allergies are underlying issue. Now I only take an abx if I absolutely cant get it draining myself. Has been a year I believe since any abx. I use a Neti pot as well though I do wait on that till Im miserable since it is uncomfortable at first. I have no discomfort with the capascin use since the third day or so. I dont use it regularly just as needed. But perhaps I should do more Reiki. :)

Hi Innerbalance,
Last night on the news they had a clip from David Letterman's stupid human tricks: a guy sucking water from a bottle into one nostril & expelling it through the other. Maybe I can take my Neti pot on the road!! :)

- well, one does not play the dijeridoo with nasal air - bagl - but the proper technique (which takes a bit of practice to master) is called circular breathing during which one is essentially exhaling into the instrument thru the mouth while inhaling thru the nose at the same time so that the flow of air into the instrment is constant - this allows for the very long notes or unbroken series of notes the master players can manage

digeridoo CD?

Dear Firekeeper,
Now that is impressive! Can you recommend any CDs?
As much as I love music I have absolutely no natural ability..I tested once as an adult at 6 on a scale of 100! (How bad do you have to be to not even make the elementary school mini flute and choir & in the days when participation counted as much as talent...6/100 I guess!! Still remember a dejected music teacher who had to turn me down for the third year in a row....I think he cringed when he saw me walk in that last year). So, Im always impressed with natural ability to sing, dance or play an instrument & am always surprised when people do these things on their own that they often do not consider themselves blessed. I will spare you the stories of my ballet lessons.. For all I know,I may have made an alcholic of that instructor :)

Holobon,

- I know how you felt - in 6th grade I was one of two in my class who could not carry a tune at all so we were excluded from the class choir when it performed at graduation - but fortunately I played clarinet well enough so I 'accompanied' the pianist who played for the choir - I do not recall what part the other student who couldn't sing took.

- I have some CDs that have didgeridoo players on some tracks but I do not have any didg-only CDS

- but I like Stephen Kent and he does have some CDs out

- try Yahoo for: Didgeridoo and look for the website listed below - there are a number of artists you can research for CDs - including Stephen Kent

- good hunting

Hello Holobon, *hugs**

I've heard remarkable things about Xylitol for the sinuses. you have to use a high grade though and at my organic market in MD its 20.00 for a two pound bag.. Guess thats not too bad considering you would have tons of the stuff for infections.
Tsp of xylitol,
tsp of salt ( the good kind, no additives)
and distilled water..
use three times daily and clears up ear infections, throat infections as well as sinus problems.

Xylitol is known in other countries as very good for the teeth. Believe it or not is a sugar and it makes bacteria literally slip out of the body!!

Hope this is helpful, and no hot stuff up the nose!!

Dear Jahnavi,
I had forgotten about Xylitol! First saw it at a health fair years ago.
Two decades of positive findings regarding its use to prevent & treat dental decay is impressive, though I did read this morning that you have to use it about 3 times a day to maintain that effect.
I will probably try Xylitol in the near future.
Thanks for the info, much appreciated!! :)

Dear Be,
There are nose washes/sprays available with xylitol..you just spray into the nostrils & it washes away irritants & bacteria & excess mucous. There is also the old fashioned way of nasal irrigation using a neti pot ( ceramic glazed pot shaped sort of like a genie's lamp)...the spout goes into one nostril & when you bend your head the right way & pour from the pot the solution will go into one nostril & out the other. The traditional solution is warm salt water. I suppose there must be a recipe out there for a homemade solution with xylitol. Xylitol does come in a form like sugar so it sounds like it would be easy to do yourself. I have read that all xylitol is not the same grade so maybe do research before buying.
Hope this helps...probably more info then you needed. :)

Hey you guys,
You need to make sure that the grade is high. I found some from "Now" which is low grade stuff, made actually from Corn.. Go figure. .Made me laugh.
The stuff you want will be made from the bark of a tree.

Take a tsp of xylitol, a pinch of salt and use distilled water to make one of those nasal sprays. I think you can buy one empty at the pharmacy. There is also the type that that has saline solution which you can buy cheaply at the drugstore.
The little tip can be pried off and you can refill it with the sylitol. I guess that would be sterile with the salt water already in it so you would just put in the xylitol.
Its about 21.00 for a two pound bag which if you think medicine instead of sugar.

You use it three times a day. That should clear up the infection and once you are clear you use it once daily, or as needed.

Hope this helps,

Loving you all,
Jahnavi

Yup, it works well. For me the best part is that it promotes drainage & relieves the pressure which is quite distracting!
