- it is too bad he does not address the notion of Recipient's intentions during Reiki

- the woman in question, it seems to me, clearly wanted her hips treated so was able utilize the energy applied to her knees (a better portal that day, perhaps) and better the condition of her hips

- I find no reason to think the Reiki went where it was needed "on its own", so to speak

I agree with your comment on the recipient's intention to get relief from their pain as being relevant. On some level they are pulling the energy where the real problem lies to get relief.

I wonder if that could be more of a utilization of meridians, etc. as in other modalities like acupuncture that link "sites" together. For example, I'm having headaches because my spine is out of alignment type thing.

You would start on the head because that is where the recipient states their discomfort lies but if the spine is the issue, it would seem logical that the spine would pull the energy because that is the real "root" of the problem.

What do you think?

- the nature of the block being unknown from his account - so we do not know why the energy was not permitted in thru the hip (knowingly or not, she may simply have been 'resisting' the energy at the hip)

- mental and emotional matters of significant 'intensity' and\or chronicity can manifest blocks in various energy channels including Meridians

- and we do know that, depending on the nature of the source of the symptoms, treating from a more remote area may be the Key (as acupuncture to the extremeties for headache - again, it is the energy balance that is important - it is also taught that the depth of needle placement will vary with the Seasons since the flow of Qi varies with Season)

One thought about the recipient 'accepting' reiki through the knees rather than the hips. If you consider the esoteric meanings of various conditions - the knees are supposed to hold a lot of 'past' - things that might block one from moving forward - the hips or complaints concerning the hips are representative of 'moving forward' Maybe the recipient needed to deal with the block (knees) before being able to move forward (hips). Just a thought. Nice to see your name here Mamabear.

Good point about the knees. And sometimes it just hurts my head to try to figure out the "whys".

Reiki seems to gravitate to one area then another. We just need to keep mindful and send it to the areas we find are drawing the energy.
