I recently bought a book about kundalini yoga that has a section on numerology. It tells you how to work out your purpose / path in this life using your date of birth.
I did this and when I read the relevant section it made a lot of sense. It helped me understand my problems and life experiences.
However I'm not best pleased about it to be honest because it's actually quite a difficult life path. It's basically about dealing with constant opposition from other people.
The way I feel about it now is that I can't be bothered to go through with this for another 40 years [or however long I live]. I'm tired and bored of it already. Every time I come up against it in daily life and recognise it I think to myself 'Oh, that's my life karma number again. Hang this for a game of marbles. I'm really fed up with this nonsense.' and I walk out of the situation.
Evidently this is not a very enlightened way for a reiki person to behave and I'm always feeling guilty about it but I can't help how I feel. I can't seem to reconcile these conflicting forces.
I'm really enjoying practicing reiki and spreading the word and I feel like I just want to do nice, positive things at the moment instead of dealing with all the unpleasant tasks. Walking the spiritual path is not always nice. In fact in my experience it very rarely is. Any thoughts on how to deal with this?
Nelys.

Nelys,
I understand your frustration. Please keep in mind that there are many different systems of numerology, all of them adding up numbers in different ways and with different explanations. Please don't tie yourself into a particular destiny because of something in a book (our thoughts tend to become self-fulfilling). Also, karmic ties can be fulfilled and broken. There are a lot of different ways to accomplish that, do some research and follow the one or find a healer that resonates with you. Please don't give up and do not feel guilty.
Blessings,
Desert Wolf

Nelys, I do have something to say but I have little time right now. I will let this simmer in me and return when I do have some time. Bless, you. finality

Life path numbers are tempered by......what Desertwolf said....and name numbers, .....and more. The ONLY certain thing is CHANGE.

Just some thoughts...
Self-knowledge is good, but like the adage goes, consider the source.
Numerology confirmed an insight you already had about yourself -- but the confirmation is an invitation to dance. We all have conflicts, and some of those involve others -- others may be our salvation and torment, but each is an opportunity. Not all of us are meant to walk softly in this world, and that is good. Many martial arts teach how to flow _around_ inevitable opposition -- perhaps this is a better way than confrontation, or its provocative cousin, avoidance. Diplomacy teaches some of the same lessons.
I think that the life karma as defined by the numerology is not the problem -- so far numerology been a guide for you, and I think that when you look further into it, there are suggestions on changing one's name, address, etc., to soften or change harsh birth or life karma numbers. That's another invitation to dance :) What's deeper is the desire to improve and be good, to do good, balanced against the realities of living in the human world, and a human body -- all your feelings are valid and right, it's attaching importance and guilt to them and not letting go that is problematic. Even the saints and masters have lousy lower human thoughts and impulses -- but they work at getting on with what's important.
None of us can change others -- we can only work out our own coping mechanisms, and inner solace and peace. Saying "enough!" is a good boundary.
I wish you all the best with this struggle -- it's not easy.
Namaste,
lunarreikin

It's possible that your treatments are causing you to release all these issues to be delt with. Maybe cutting back on self treatments could help the lessons slow down a bit.
Just a thought,

Otoharo!
Nelys, I am not familiar with the system you are using for numerology. I use the book, "Live the Life you were Born to Live." This system fits in with what I know about the elements and how they fit in with everything else in our lives.
I was able to do my HARD personal chores by having a supportive guide (channeling in a body) who helped me monthly at first, then weekly. Still when I could not break through, reiki treatments from my friend weekly has provided me the assistance I had to have to break through to myself. Now, living is easy, and the hard stuff no longer comes up. But I am talking about nearly ten years of constant conscious working through my stuff.
You are the one who set your path before coming into body. If you set it up to have constant conflicting forces, you must have felt that is what you required. Look to yourself for the answers. She knows very well.

Hi Nelys,
In this Realm of the Relative (where we are), every one and every thing comes up with constant opposition. Opposition is just a reference point. You have the free will to make choices from moment to moment. You can choose to see this as a curse, or you can choose to see this as a blessing.
Until we see all of our challenges as our greatest blessings, we have work to do on our attitude. Attitude of gratitude, regardless of the circumstances is the best hat to wear in life.
First, try to shift your focus from the thought that you are doomed to face constant opposition. Thinking this will only draw those circumstances to you, for what energy you give to this thought, goes out and finds like energy and brings back the experience of exactly what you don't want. Until you change your mind about this, you will continue the cycle of projecting this thought of doomed opposition and in return, experience just that.
Change your mind....see opposition as a natural way of life in this world. Without up, there is no down. Without left, there is no right. Without small, there is no large. See opposition simply as reference points. We don't judge left and right and they are opposites. They aren't bad, they just are. So is the way with everything else. The only thing that makes a differnece in your life is the choice you make as to how you view these things.
And guilt...ugh. That's the ego's favorite ploy. No need to feel guilty about changing your mind. Seems silly doesn't it? But complexity is of the ego, so silly it is.
Walking the spiritual path can be a very wonderful experience if we consciously look at our choices and do not judge, blame or play the victim game. Instead, ask yourself these questions...what can I do with this opportunity? What can I learn from this? How can I grow from this? How can I help others grow from this?
We can put a positive spin on anything. Keep reaching for those stars, they're just a mind's reach away.
Love & Light,
Kimberlee
