Namaste all.
I was randomly looking at some websites yesterday: which I rarely ever have the patience to do. I happened to read an abstract about synchroniciites. They said it is neither mystical nor spiritual in nature. These are events arranged by the active subconscious to provide explanations and growth for the mind. So, it is within our power that these events happen. This was news to me. I always thought these events are so intelligent that they can only be orchestrated by a super-human intelligence.
Anyway, same night this happened to me: I have been trying to remember the name of a boy my son was friends with long time ago. In the last ten days I tried to remember it everyday without success. I watched a random old movie yesterday night and guess what? There was a character called Lowell in the movie and that is the name that I was trying to remember.
I was wondering is this how synchronicities work? Is it purposeful subconsciously? Frankly, I am a little disappointed because I really enjoyed the intelligence behind these events when they happened to me and now with the new information it seems too scientific!

Hi Mal,
Actually, I like that explanation, maybe because I am quite scientific and logic minded (heck, I'm a programmer). I like things that I can conceptualise and this explanation, I sort of can.
However, I still see the magic in this...isn't it awesome that we can have such powerful minds? More powerful that we realise even now? How is that possible?
Just my musings...
~ Blessings ~

I think it's as valid a theory as anything. But if Spirit is in everything does this not make it spiritual experiences as well?

Keep in mind that Jung coined the term synchronicity, he defined it as a meaningful coincidence. That it is only once we attach meaning to a coincidence that it becomes synchronistic. By their accidental nature, they urge us to look at a new truth in our lives, and sometimes completely change us and our lives in very unexpected ways. There is a wonderful book about this titled "There Are No Accidents, Synchonicity and the Stories of our Lives", by Robert Hopcke. Its a wonderful book, and I highly recommend reading it.
Love, light, and amazing coincidences,

Mal,
The subconscious isnt very well charted territory. This concept strikes me as a hypothesis. Im curious as how someone reached this conclusion " scientifically". Were specific research studies mentioned?
peace & joy,

I think its something to do with our subconcious mind n the universe...the answers are all there in the universe, its up to you to have access to them.

Namaste all!
Lot of questions...
Some people have better access to the "universe" or "guidance" or "higher-self" than others.(is this the same as "God"?) Is this because of their balance Karma or their own blocks? If the mind has unlimited potential, why don't some people get what they crave for in life? Why isn't their minds accessing the subconscious-know-it-all intelligence using the principle of synchronicity?
May be ways such as meditation, yoga and exercises improve this connection. May be the "enlightened" people are those who have mastered it. Where does "God" (if he/she is a third person) figure in all of this. Can God reduce your karma if he wills it? This is where the "Dwaita-two" and "Adwaita-not two" philosophies of Hinduism confuse me. I cannot decide which could be the "truth".

Love your questions.
I have no idea how to describe it to others.
I just find that when I am doing what I am supposed to do. When I am feeling at peace in body mind and soul.... they happen ALOT!!!!!!!! The problem I always have is to keep that heightened perception of life when living life. When I go a couple of days, weeks and or months without.... I really need to center myself.
I is a early warning system with me.
Thank GOD/Goddess
Have a marvy day.

Otoharo!
Dave, I agree. There is no more spiritual being than we ourselves.

Mal, how can one separate oneself from all that one is? What results from the brain is less of what and who you are than what comes from your feelings, knowings, intuitions, etc. You have them all and use them all all the time.

I have learned that synchronicity occurs MORE in a person's life when they are "on the path" or aligned with their soul-spirit-self. I have also found that it happens when my soul is very insistent that I do something that is very important!

Mal, God doesn't reduce your karma. You do. It's all in your connection with God. Connection. God does nothing to you without you willing it. You're in control, believe it or not. Free-will is the sacred agreement between God and mankind. It's all up to us. This is why WE have to connect to God instead of one lucky day the doorbell ringing and there stands God handing us a big box of free enlightenment whether we want it or not.
(Darn, I'd sure like a big box of free enlightenment!)
