Suggestions and Blessings

HI Yall...

I am encountering a peculliar delima and was hoping for a bit of advice.

A little history
My life transformed a few years back (for the better) and I left a 5 bedroom house filled with all sorts of crap. I moved into a roomate situation and never replaced anything... all I took with me was a computer, music, books, clothes, and my plants.

Since that time I have been blessed and gifted some furniture and other items etc.. sorry boring...
anyways
I am looking at downsizing again moving into an even smaller space so I need to rid myself of what little I have taken on...ie...bookcase, desk, tv, plants, etc...

I am really struggling this time to let it go for some reason. I thought since I didn't have much it would be easier but it seems to be quite the opposite. Everything has become precious.

So now I am really kind of split because part of me sees everything as impermanent and temporal, and there is a part of me that wants to cling with the since I don't have anything I should cling tighter to what little I have (coincodentally it is the same part of me that compares my life with the rest of society and is never truly saatisfied anyway)

Anyways...it's gonna happen, this change I am just really uncomfortable so if anyone has any suggestions or words of wisdom that might help me become more peacefull and at ease about it I would appreciate it tremendously.

Dear Tenguryu,
It is not the possessions that are the issue, it is the attachment itself. If you got rid of everything except for one precious item, wouldnt you likely also feel the "need" for that one item? Recognizing that you are attaching seems significant to me. Awareness must count for something. :)
Perhaps it is just human nature when we move from owning much to owning less that we appreciate those few things more.
There is nothing wrong with gratitude for what you have. It is having & not appreciating that tends to be harmful.
I wouldnt be so hard on yourself.

peace & joy,
holobon

tenguryu, I am downsizing again also. Because of my age I asked my kids whether they want any of my things. They have their own lifestyles and really do not need anything I have. But I just wondered whether there was a value in my passing on something to them. None of them wanted anything at all. So I took books and magazines to the library in my little red wagon. Took about six trips. (The library is just a few blocks away.) I'v done this so many times before. After my youngest went away to college, I packed up just the minimum, sold a few things and called the local thrift store to take the rest. Since then I have amassed furniture again several times. Now I know that this town will flood after the Big Shift. In this area, we are likely to have no electricity for some time. I am using these facts to help me evaluate what things are of permanent value to me. That is not much. this music I write is the only really valuable thing. My tent and cot. Folding easy to carry furniture, I like. All my picture albums, I have in a big suitcase. I hope to be able to keep these, all those baby and childhood pictures of my children! I can not find a storage unit that is on high ground. 1,000 ft elevation would be safe so far as flooding goes. We are at about sea level now. That is a whopping big difference.

I'm down to giving away these big pieces that I have not been able to sell.

Does anyone know of a kind of charger which will renew D and C batteries? Something that can be powered by the sun? I am interested in things like this.

It is well to have a vehicle which will run on deisel as that means it would also run on vegetable oil. We are likely to lose all petroleum. It would be nice if automobile industry would make cars that run on hydrogen that they take from water!

First of all, I admire you for possesing just a few things for yourself. Especially in todays materialistic world where people want to have more n more things for themselve. I feel its ok to possess a few things and have sentimental attachments as long as we are not greedy. We do know that we are not going to carry anything with us finally, so why not enjoy just a few things?

Hi Patrick,

Is it the things themselves or what they represent ie your security that you are having problems parting with? Change of any kind is often an unsettling experience. Sometimes the things around us are our 'comfort zone' and provide us with a feeling of security in much the same way that children often have a particular toy or blanket that they are attached to.

Could you not allow yourself to pick just one or two small things to take with you so that your new place still feels like home...

Gentle Blessings
Helen

Namaste Patrick,

I admire your intention of letting go of material things. We are truly free when we are free of attachments at the mind level. That is, nothing wrong with having materials that give you joy atlest temporarily for the moment. The important aspect of it is will you be able to give it away if someone needs it more than you do? The answer to this may be the key. Meanwhile, surround yourself with the things that you enjoy having and don't be so hard on yourself.

Dear Alamelu,
Your post reminded me that we should be grateful for what we have & part of gratitude is to enjoy it, take pleasure from it & share it with others.

I have enjoyed all the posts. I can say this, plants are like personal friends. It is hard to give them up, unless someone else takes to them maybe one at a time, you can find a home for the ones that take up too much space. Life in the physical can be as full and rich as we want it to be as long as we ourselves are fullfilling our own needs for growth. there is no harm in things as holobon says.

Thank you all for your wonderful thoughts.
I am considering my situation in a new way as a result.
I guess I hadn't realized what a raport I had built with the plants I have surrounded myself with...on the bright side I found a temple here in town that is willing to take some in ...and one of my spiritual mentors offered to take a few as well...so I know they will be surrounded by fantastic energy environments.

thanks again
be well

tenguryu,

it seems to me that you have answered your question - read what you wrote in parenthesis -- now, if you can be true to yourself, its a no brainer.

the key is being true to yourself (emphasis on self).

best of luck on your quest.

reiki all around,
r

ps - remember that all will be taken care of (bookcase etc.)

Hi,
I have just read your message and would love to get more information on the shift that you refer to. I keep hearing bits and pieces and have read some information on earth and spiritual changes but I am still unsure of what and when to expect these things. I would love to hear your thoughts and opinions on this topic.
Blessings,
Inner Indulgence

Otoharo!

OK. I have shared all this in the past, so anyone who has already heard it can pass on this!

Earth is a sentient being who is reaching for her next step in her evolution. As she knew that earth, the globe, would be encountering three cycles simultaneously, she chose to time her step to coincide with these cycles.

The cycles are geological. We are rounding a bend in the elispsis (sp) and will encounter a more direct flow of energy from the Center of Being. You can read of this in Urantia. This is the 2,600,000 year cycle. The 24,000 year cycle is when all the planets around our sun will be
in the position of when they first emerged from the sun. The 2,000 year cycle is entering the Aquarian Age.

We will enter also, the age of light and life which you can read about in Urantia.

Light and Life, is the time when humans step up their evolution also, as Earth will do. This will be without ego, without intellect as a separate funciton of the brain. We will be one brained. (We are growing filaments that connect the right and left hemospheres.) Without ego, and the influence of intellect, we can live in our feelings, and beingness , we will be wholeminded. Children being born now do not have ego.

As to when this will all occur, we can not know because humans can and do bend time. The Mayans predicted this will occur in 2012. It is likely much sooner than that from the sources I have. I had it figured to be at the winter Solstice this year, 2005, but it is not that soon. I have geared myself to expect to move to higher ground! I live in a city that was built behind levies in the flood plain of three Rivers. We were told that 1,000 feet elevation is safe everywhere in the States. That does not mean that 500' may not be also safe.

At the event of the shift, the earth stops spinning for 72 hours. You can imagine how the fluid inside earth reacts so there will be volcanoes erupting, all of them, earthquakes, etc. This is not really the worst thing. We can live through all this in complete safety if we do not fear. Fear comes from ego. Know that you are safe regardless of what happens. In your knowings is the knowing of how to process oxygen from water as we did as fetuses, for instance.

Climate will change. All the glaciers will melt. This will occassion the ocean moving into lower elevations on the earth. That is why I know I will have to move out of this city that is little above sea level now. The hills around here will be islands. This flooding will not occur all at once.

Remember do not fear, now, or at any time. Since earth has declared the the experiment of ego will not be allowed to continue, there will be no more ego. People who cling to ego will reincarnate on a world that has never had ego so they have to learn other than ego ways. (I am using this term ego, as different from aggrandizement. Ego is an experiment tried as a tool for us. It was designed to be an assistant to us, to handle the routines of our lives so we could concentrate on creativity. But ego experiences caused it to turn against us. Now it is an enemy. Our only enemy. )

email me is you have specific personal questions.
