Hi,
Does anyone have a list of Avatars present here on earth?
I've only heard of a few like Mother Amma, Mother Mera and Sai Baba.
Thanks for any information
Michael

Michael,
Hi.
As I understand it, Mother Amma, Sai Baba, and others may only be "Avatars" because their devotees may have so proclaimed them. The issue I have is over murmurs that some of these 'avatars' were also 'self-proclaimed' which I find problematic.
Cheers,
RC

Hi RC, nothing wrong with being a doubting Thomas :-)
It's not up to me to convince anyone whether these people are genuine.
I'm really only looking for a list of known Avatars 'self-proclaimed' or otherwise ...
Someone once told me there are about 30 living but I'm struggling to count 4 or 5.
I've been to see Amma a few times and I would recommend a visit to anyone who has the chance. It can be life changing. Thats my experience.
Hundreds of devotees of Sai Baba have had unexplainable miracles happen in their lives. There is a whole book full of them (the name of which I can't remember now) He's also had alligations of abuse surrounding him recently. I find it hard to get my head around that. Probably a subject for another Thread :-)
Blessings,
Michael

capri,
Hi.
I find a bit of healthy scepticism to have been quite well rewarded over the years.
:)
The problem I see with miracles is that once one feels one has occurred then it is somehow necessary for humans to associate it with something or someone (accurately or not) since synchronicities are not causal. After a "miracle" seems to have occurred it becomes difficult to say that it might not have happened anyway (though perhaps at some other moment)
Cheers,
RC

capri,
Hi.
Miracles is not a subject of much fascination for me (but I am fairly certain you may get some takers on that one)
Cheers,
RC

Namaste.
More than the term "miracles", the term "sidhi or siddha purusha" (perfected being)explains the happenings associated with baba such as manifestation of phyisical items out of thin air, appearing in more than one place at a time etc. Even Yogananda was known for that. It is a different thing than just to claim that so and so cured somebody of a disease.
It is a known fact that some people are able to overcome the laws of nature as known on the physical realms. Few others were neem karoli baba, Sri Aurobindo, Ramana Maharishi, Ramakrishna Paramahamsa. Ofcourse, none of them are living right now except Satya Sai Baba.
