I am new to meditation and I was wondering if any of my special Reiki friends, or others, can suggest a good place to start. I like the idea of guided meditation and was wondering if anyone can help with any recomendations as to what is good and what isn't, as well as why they think that.
Have any of you felt that some meditations are a waste of time (which is precious to me) and other types might be more benificial?
How spiritual can I become by meditating everyday?
Do I need to do any protection when meditating?
Is there any reason to do guided meditation? I would like to become as spiritual as possible and need some help here.
I do like to listen to a voice rather than read it, but am not against reading it and practicing it.
Can you give me any names and addreeses of any authors and the titeles and why you think they are good?
Many Thanks. Dominic

I was told you can meditate for a short or long time, whatever you chose. You make it your own ritual. When I feel the need I do a quick mediation to help make sure I'm grounded and back in the moment. It only takes me a couple minutes, but I feel wonderful afterwards and can tackle what ever was overwhelming just a few minutes ago. Meditation is very personal, no right or wrong way, just whatever/whenever it works for you.

You may begin meditation by following your outbreath.
Eyes open or closed, though it is said closed eyes your imagination can play tricks on you. Just follow your exhilations as your belly rises and falls. If at night you have trouble falling asleep try placing your hand over your navel, and notice how similar it is to a cork on water. It( your hand) rises and falls with each ebb and flow of your breathing.
If you wish, try connecting your exhilations to the trials and tribulations of the day, realizing those events are simply emotions and are the consiquence of attachment to those ebbs and flows of your experiences.
just a thought

Masterdom,
Hi,
You might investigate Shambhala International. They have meditation centers around the world (in the UK as well, I believe) where one may learn mindfulness meditation (and, one does not need to be a buddhist or become a buddhist to participate). I am pretty sure there is a center in Bristol. If you search for Shambhala International you should be able to get to their website.
Cheers,
RC

Hello
As there are many "goals" and "methods" to meditating, what works best for me is that I am connecting directly to Source between my thoughts. Just as one walks a labyrinth and succeeds to the center where Source resides. The one can return from the labyrinth with the information received from the Center.
Have fun!!
