Dear Roxy,

Perhaps you need to be more specific...are you asking if people believe in a life after death? Or are you asking people their beliefs of the nature of life after death?

- perhaps you mean the nature of existence after death?

- as for life after death, if one is not Liberated, reincarnation brings the next physical body (thus, life after death)

Otoharo!

I have said a lot about this on this board for many years. In Uratia, it is described how we go to a world not currently seen by us but in our planet's vacinity. We plan our next move. Usually that is to come again for a life here. (However the author of this section of Urantia does not know that we reincarnate. They are aware only of the worlds we enhabit that are not on earth.

The books Conversations with God, I,II,III, IV express my view also.

yeah, i was just kinda interested on the different pictures you had in mind after death... what you think happens to you?... what will the experience be or feel like? ....I do feel that dying is just the next stage in a natural progression of spiritual development and probably isnt that different ( in a way) to living... i dont know...

i just like to daydream on what it may be like... to try and create an image in my mind of where my brother will be now and what he's experiencing.

I like the idea that whatever you beleive to happen is the reality, but i am sure thats just far too pleasent to be true. ;o) x

I am reminded of something Lazaris said. As soon as a person dies, he finds exactly what he expected to see. Abd after the reunions and congratulations are over, they put away the scenery and life proceeds.

Dear Roxy,

I'm sure the Divinity is a loving Being, therefore, I'm certain that the reports of people having near-death experiences are true. Meeting those who've gone before you, a life review, and an existence in Unconditional Love. And then , after a while, other incarnations until you acheive the point where you no longer have to live on this earth...you can live in bliss eternally.

Rock On!

Lazaris is a soul who has never been in the physical. He lives at the center of being. He became interested in a human woman whose laughter was so intriguing to him, that he followed (that is, over shadowed) several of her lifetimes. Then one day she and her husband, (Bob) were out in nature, and Bob began to say things in a strange voice. It was Lazaris wanting to say things to her. He introduced himself and with their willingness to allow him, they began what has lasted since then. That was in the 1980's I think. He said he would continue until Bob is in his eighties. When I first heard Lazaris, he still spoke with a strong accent. Now he sounds quite familiar. Bob and his wife divorced but continued being close so that Lazaris continued his relationship with her. She is now dead. This method of communication is called channeling. He does not enter Bob's body he only uses his voice box.

Lazaris tells about one of the first times he accompanied them when they visited a friend in the hospital. They introduced Lazaris and in Bob's hands, reached out to shake her hand. She raised up off the bed! startled all of them. Laazaris had to learn how to step down his energy.

I have attended many of his programs. On the sunday afternoon, we each filed by him so he could use Bob's hands. He always touched my thymus area, and murmered, "yes". Of course, many people, likely each of us experienced healing when in his energy.

Mr. Firekeeper:

There are some who believe that the traumas of past lives have lingering effects that affect present lives. Therefore, it's possible to heal the effects of these traumas. I do suppose, that is possible to argue that how one deals with these traumas is another form of Karmic action.

Ms. Roxanne,

/*\ Namaste :-}}

- but, one cannot take action in a past life - one must do that in the present life

- and from the effects of such thoughts, feeling, and actions actions Karma will, indeed, accrue (in this life or a future life)

- but not in the past

>:-}}

- now, assuming one might actually be able to gain reliable and valid knowledge of a past life (a sticky proposition to be sure), this is not the same as being able to do anything that would affect the past life - we cannot alter the past

- could one act upon such 'knowledge' in this life? Of course and Karma would, of course, accrue

Mr. Firekeeper,

True, you can't change the past. I think the idea is that you can heal the wounds incurred in the past, in this life or a previous one, by sending reiki to yourself during those events which caused them. As whether it's possible or not, I don't really have an opinion on the issue, I just wanted to explain the theory.

Ms. Roxanne,

/*\ Namaste :-}}

- remember, we were not the same person in past lives

- we cannot simply project our current perceptions of our lives onto past lives

- each incarnation has the potential to leave us rather different than in the previous life

- we may 'advance' in one instance and then 'regress' during the next incarnation

>:-}}

- the laws of Karma do not guarantee that each lifetime will be an advance from the previous life

>:-}}

- another issue rarely mentioned in the past life arena is, again assuming one is actually able to learn something valid and relaible from a past life, that there may be some very valuable aspects of a past life (lives) that we have failed to utilize in the present life (not all Karma- producing "trans-life habits' are bad ones, afterall)

>:-}}

- accessing that type of information, it seems to me, could be quite useful (still keeping in mind the differences from one life to the next and the problems of the reliability and validity of such pastlife data)

Mr. Firekeeper,

Oh, I agree. We definitely are not the same person that we were in our past lives. Each life presents us with new struggles and, therefore, new opportunities. And I can understand saying that the only thing that will resolve leftover issues in our past lives, is positive action in this life.

To put it bluntly, this is the life that counts.

Otoharo!

And then there are those of us who split off some part of our soul and retreive it now when we learn about ti and are ready to cope with it as I have done. I certainly am not that person I was so long ago. But it was necessary for me to bring all of myself together again which meant I could now heal what I could not do back then. I can't tell you how it works. I had help to do it and continuing reiki help. In our knowings there is no karma. There are no laws that govern. I did all this by choice.

finality,

/*\ Namatse :-}}

- you said, in part: "In our knowings there is no karma. There are no laws that govern. I did all this by choice."

- are you implying that you can chose the effects of your actions as well?

- it almost sounds as if you are implying that since you say you can chose your actions that you can also select or at least predict the effects of your behavior

>:-}}

- but remember, Karma does not govern

- that is a common misconception

>:-}}

- Karma simply is the process of all our thoughts, feelings (including thouse we have little control over at times - such as fear and anxiety), actions, and reactions having some effects which then finish the accrual of Karma which leads to further thoughts, feelings, etc andsoforth

>:-}}

- the Karmic manifestation of the 'effects' of what we do cannot be predicted with any accuracy - even though I might be able to more accurately predict the more immeditate effects of punching a wall out of anger

>:-}}

- but choice is provisional since we may do things or have feels arise from which we act thoughtlessly (or compassionately) - or we think without mindfulness (or mindfully) - but the karmic process goes on irregardless - and we are still responsible for the effects of our lack of mindfulness or our compassion

>:-}}

- choice is provisional since, over our various lifetimes, we develop Karmic habits - patterns we repeat from lifetime to lifetime - many of which we are unaware of in any given lifetime

- so 'free will' or choice is, at best, provisional and more likely largely a myth

good morn, roxylady....I envision that our loved ones are right here with us...that we have no perception of the "other world" (though, I realize some do to a much greater extent), being it's all one. So, it's during the quiet times of the night/morn, midway to sleep that we can "see" & feel them better....even hear their wisdom. I remember when I was struggling with cancer, truly in despair, while meditating there was a presence behind my left shoulder...sensed it was my grandpa (the fedora did it)...he let me know...that no matter what...whether I stayed or crossed over that I'd be all right.....he & others would be there to welcome me. It took such a load off of me. Thanks for letting me share....

So, dear Firekeeper, may I ask....do you "know" (from within) all that you've just shared.....or have you studied & learned & experimented until it all became a part of you.....what you believe & how you live?
I ask because of "common misconception"...
"free will or choice is, at best, provisional and more likely largely a myth"....
I hope this doesn't sound attacking, because that's not how I intend it.....just wondering.....

Ms. Roxanne,

/*\ Namaste :-}}

- so, depending on how much stock one puts in the realms of intuition, being stuck in one's head sure blinds us to a lot

>:-}}

- which suggests that what we think we "know" is a rather narrow realm (and 'knowing' might be rated a bit less highly, perhaps)

>:-}}

- thus the suggestion that we learn about our Shadow, for example - since the Unconscious is a realm full of potent forces

- getting more aware of some of these will no doubt aid one in sorting out Karma
