My Mind Cradled in Light

"My Mind Cradled in Light"

My mind cradled in light causes glorious space eruptions in a cluttered van.

My mind cradled in light holds all past dark choices with ease, giggling with the benign bemusement of a parent tumbling over a misplaced toy, forgetting the stumble, reminded only of his love for the child at play.

My mind cradled in light spawns tiny acts of unspeakable heroism:

calling the dentist and keeping an appointment I would rather avoid,
playing piano for my parents,
copying poems that burst, snap and crackle like bottle rockets,
salvaging endorphins from the pool lap lane,
letting my dad - who does not visit this site - win the nightly high-stakes pitch game, without telling.

My mind cradled in light loves the daughter even as she avoids my eyes & disdains any declaration of demonstration of love for me. Still, in this cradled mind-light, she is a perfect, shining waterfall of beauty who no dark force shall dare overcome.

My mind cradled in light forgives the world that clammers for my son's attention & laughs at wild culture's finest sparring partners - those panty-twisters who fought me so hard, for so many decades, yet who in my son's life shall ultimately be but bit players in a innocent cosmic ball.

And - get this - my little guy will be king, jester and lead the virtual orchestra.

My mind cradled in light busies itself with honoring acts, often forgets to de-tuft its navel or look at a mirror.

My mind cradled in light is truly long past taking itself seriously or even of having any consequence at all. And so, is free to serve rather than rule.

My mind cradled in light s as dangerous as a pope flatulating in a confessional box at the point of absolution. Who then, is called to forgive whom?

My mind cradled in light writes nonsense lullabies and poems, which, of course, are never finished because, without the pressing impetus of the guilt-shame locomotive, this soothing artist's
ploy always makes
me fall
