Shaman's Dream

I wrote this song this past summer. It was inspired by a beautiful spiritual experience in working with Julia Cameron the author of the Vein of Gold for unblocking artists.
So far I have not met a person who is in touch with the song experientally or really gets much meaning from it. Anyone who relates or is inspired please reply.
Thanks!

Shaman's Dream

Chorus:
There is a world unseen
She lives it in a shaman's dream
When the drummer beats ( I drum on the guitar's body here)
She's awakened by the sleep ( more drumming on guitar body)

She is a hero in the unseen world
A victor, a magician and healer
Running from nothing, a world that's unreal
Taking on negative forces with zeal

Illusions unreal, reality unseen
She tells many tales from the unseen dream
Her mighty companions guide her on through
And in the world of illusion, she only trusts two

The world is not really what it may seem
Ruled by insecurity and unreal
She know reality, lives in the truth
The outer world does not understand so she's aloof

Webs she does fabricate, day after day
Circles she walks around making her way
Like a mighty Phonenix she will soon rise
Above out of the ashes to everyone's surprise

There is an understanding far from here
A magical quality unseen and dear
Thoughts and elements, alchemy on high
Living metaphysical principles she'll rise

No longer seen as oppressed and hard done
She will spread her Phonenix wings to the sun
Flying so hight, soaring wide, she sees all
You see she has answered a spiritual call

Hi Whitelace,

Its lovely, I can imagine it being sung to a celtic tune :)

It reminds me of a very gentle shamanic healer that I know. He often feels more at home in his shamanic role than he does in the 'real world'

Gentle Blessings
Helen

whitelace,

Hi.

I suspect anyone who has done shamanic journeying (or even some dream yoga) will relate to some of the descriptions in a very personal way.

Cheers,

RC

This song speaks beautifully to those who are on the shamans path. The song speaks of the shaman being so many things, a dreamer, a victor, a magician, a healer, a warrior, and a phoenix. The phoenix being a symbol of death and rebirth. The shamanic death takes on many facets most importantly the death of egomania, helplessness, illness. This is so beautifully written. Thank you for sharing this treasure with us. I get it completely and am very touched.

Dear Whitelace,
Im not on a shaman path and I love your song. Why not try it out on some Reiki or open minded folk you know, cant imagine why no one gets it. The phrase "she is awakened by the sleep" really drew me into the story you created. Thought about performing it at a local psychic fair?

peace & joy,
holobon

I agree Finality...
Its deepest meaning begins and ends with the most important person...
the one who wrote it...
those who are in the circle in between are blessed and touched.....

Thank you sunshine.
Now I will tell you what happened when I posted the song on the Reiki cafe.
I came to the library and brought my note book with 8 of my new songs. They were all written from a positive growth experience and I realize now I did not appreciate them much as I thought I had as I have lost the note book between the library and my house. I have asked my angels to help me locate it and now I ask you all to pray that I recover it as I only had two songs in the book memorized and the rest are gone forever and that includes the shaman song's chords. I simply didn't memorize them. Maybe they will come back to me sometime or I will compose new ones.

Thanks. The phrase she's awakened by the sleep is my take on how the shamanic journey's have woke me up to my real self more fully and helped to heal me more deeply.
