POST NATAL
(the mourning after…)

Creation quietly goes to work
As womanhood starts to flower,
Feeling humanity within her humanness
Gives an awesome sense of power.
Twice the blood and twice the heat,
As two bodies grow in size,
Auras overlapping -
The light shining from her eyes.
Energy rippling outwards
From one unto another,
Two souls entwined with love as one -
Not yet child and mother.
Twin hearts beating more closely
Than lovers’ could ever be;
Where inside a soul, another dwells
Still linked to eternity.
Invisible umbilical
Taps into heaven still
Feeding peace back to the nurturer
Divine return of her goodwill.
A unity of hearts and minds
In deepest intimacy -
The ebb and flow, the in and out,
Two lives in one body.
The sacred mystery of life
Pulses through her very veins
With force and love and timelessness
And the residue remains.

But in a raw and bloody rush,
These two are torn apart,
What was one is now divided
And the separation starts.
How deep is the hollow that remains
Where a soul once dwelt within,
What loss to bear where fire burned
Now empty, dark and dim;
Once a vessel filled with holy life -
A love so new and pure,
Now sagging, painful vacuum,
That echoes the unsure.
And when the magic moment’s past
Of witnessing the one
Who emerges from the mystery
As a daughter or a son,
The body weakened starts to grieve
The loss of what once was,
Missing the warmth and energy
Of pride and inner cause.
While all eyes were upon her
For nine months she felt the glow,
But she no longer captivates them
Now nobody wants to know.
She has relinquished her tenuous grip
On the miracle of life,
No longer the sacred vessel,
Just a mother or a wife;
No longer one with nature’s plan,
Just pain, fatigue and doubt,

Having contained so much within,
How can she ever live without?

Dear Sunshine, just reading some of the posts, found yours and I as Mother, Grandmother, Wife, Daughter, thank You for all women. I work with women who are working on Spirituality, in all forms, several of them are finding it difficult to speak ofthe pain they feel at children going off to college for the first time, children in middle school, children in general growing up and "away", as a mom, I know the pain and near confusion of how does this happen and isnt this MY child? Well...I guess we, wtih loving hearts know the answer to that one, not one of us would keep a child bound, we represent freedom and well-being to the max....So, I ask from you the opportunity to share your deep expression of "woman" with a group of beautiful women who reach out to other women as well as themselves, to find the answers, the expressions, of the Heart of Woman at this time on this Planet. FYI, I have been working with women for nearly 20 years as a Coach, Counselor, Consultant...In private practice, doing my loving best to support the expressions of the Heart of People, I will respect your wishes with you lovely words if you are led to say no. Blessings and thank you for saying for me what I have never been able to put into words about my great love for my sons and my grandchildren, and the Mother in me for all Children of this beautiful Planet. Dear Sharon,
I would be most honoured if you shared my words with women who may find personal messages therein. I have been drawn often to write poetry for women, so perhaps I will share some more on this site.
In fact I will, and please feel free to use them for the greater good, if that is how they touch you.

Oh yes.... know that lesson well. Still haven't learned to nip it in the bud, but at least can sit with it and endure its company and learn the lessons.
