Attunement / Initiation
I have been asked many time what is the difference between an initiation and attunement. For some people there may not be any difference as the two words are used interchangeably. In my experience I have used these words to describe different aspects of our spiritual journey.
For me the word attunement is just that. Much like a tuning fork an attunement, works with the principle of resonance. If one prong of the fork is struck the opposite will begin to vibrate by picking up the vibration of the other. This process is used in most Reiki / Seichim attunements through the use of a ritual that involves symbols and hand placements and in most cases requires the presence of another individual. If the vibration of that individual is higher than the other the vibration of the lower person may accelerate to match the vibration of the other, much like that of the tuning fork.
The word initiation used in a spiritual context is much different. The presence of another person is not necessary. An Initiation occurs when the person begins to clear enough energetic blocks that a rush of energy from source is able to enter into the energy field of an individual. This is usually one of the most memorable experiences and times of transformation. I have begun to use the term SKHM-Khet meaning SKHM in the body as a replacement for initiation. The Hieroglyph of a seated priest with an arrow pointed downward over his head represents SKHM. I have used this term because the word initiation does have a variety
of meanings where SKHM-Khet is more explicit. The word SKHM has also been represented as a sceptre which also represents the connection of heaven and earth. On the top of the sceptre is also a down pointing arrow that represents heaven coming to earth. In the time of ancient Egypt the Pharaoh was given the SKHM sceptre signifying that the Pharaoh was holding the bridge between heaven and earth. In present time we all hold the sceptre. Quite often an experience during a SKHM-Khet, is a vision of being handed a sceptre or becoming a sceptre (Column) is experienced.
I hope this helps.

Hi Patrick,
I would like to know what you think the differences are between SKHM (or scichem) and Karuna or Karuna Ki. I am a Karuna Ki master, and really love the energy that it has with it. can you equate SKHM with that in a way that I can compare?
By the way, I love the way you put together the energy re initiation and attunement. I think many people go thru the attunement, and the initiation comes and comes, etc....

De-Light,
Since my last posts here have deleted I do not feel comfortable to respond to comparisons of Karuna KI and SKHM on this list.
I do have my own egroup list at Egroups.

Patrick,
No posts have been deleted. The boards on the whitefire site got messed up because my web hosting company made some change to the environment, or something else happened. In any case the whole thing just stopped working right, so I turned the whole thing off and asked people to start using this new one as it is a better system and I don't have the time to figure out what was happening with the old one. Lots of posts were lost because of that (there were 50 on the day it started going berserk).
It's Saturday night right now and I'm at work so you can well believe that I hardly have time to read new messages nevermind going around deleting them.

Patrick,
I went to your site, and enjoyed the detour. ;-))
I hope you will come back and post here again, as I am sure as Mike says, it was mechanical error. I really do enjoy your posts.

Patrick,
Namaste. :-}}
To me it seems that an 'initiation' is the large picture that represents a 'full' or more full stepwise 'welcoming' into a tradition - and that an attunement is simply one aspect of initiation.
I know too that semantics is one of Coyote's favorite tricks to confuse as many people as possible - myself included.
