The Reiki Cafe 

Late yesterday afternoon, my family were told that my aunt had killed herself by throwing herself in front of a train.
My uncle and his 17 year old son are devastated. My mom wanted to go and be with them both, but they wanted to be alone.
My aunt Sharon always came across as cheerfully and comical at family get togethers, but everyone knew she had times when she went very down. Each time she and my uncle would see doctors and try everything for her to fight and get well. Before she died she had been down for a couple of weeks, and was again trying to get help but i think she couldn't cope with it anymore.
I wanted to ask if i could send her healing even though she has passed over? I was wondering as i have watched the T.V. programme 'Crossing Over' with John Edwards, who said that you still have to deal with your issues after you pass. I can't bear to think she might still be in torment and would like to send her Reiki to help. Does anyone think this is possible?

My condolences,
Reiki works on the soul as well as the physical body. I beleive your aunt can still benifit from reiki. I will add her to my reiki list.
One thing i did when i got attuned was to send reiki to all my deceased relatives and friends. I felt then that the reiki could help them be at peace.
I will also add your oncle and his son to my list. Hoping it will help ease the pain.

I'm so sorry...please accept my condolences for you and your family.

I think it's fine to send Reiki to your aunt, and to your uncle and cousin as well. If nothing else, sending Reiki to the situation will be helpful to all involved, including you.

- yes, we carry our Karma with us upon death of the physical body

- however, the nature of its impact on us in the Bardo is rather different than in Samsara (including the next incarnation)

- can one do energy work for the deceased?

- Yes, Shamans do it all the time in certain types of Soul-work (from my own ventures into shamanic work I have to say that these are fascinating practices)

- vis a vis Reiki?? there are many views on whether Reiki is a practice for the living or is also for those who have passed thru The Veils and on to the path to their next re-birth -

- my own 'expeditions' into Soul-work suggest to me that reiki as we know it in the waking body does not transcend into the 'realms' inhabitied by Souls

- but, again there are differing views on this - at least one person I know also trainied in Soul-work reports that she feels 'certain aspects' of Reiki may reach the subtler realms of the Bardo

- irregardless, it will not likely do much harm to try reiki for the 'souls' of the dead

My condolences on your loss. Blessings to your family. I believe sending Reiki will help assist your aunt in passing to where she needs to be. To me passed or not if she still exists don't tamper with free will. If you feel you have the ability to communicate with her directly ask for permission. If you can't and work with guides then ask if they can speak to her on your behalf. If you don't work with guides then I would just send with the intent that if she doesn't want it it will return to the Universe. but yes I think it would be a good thing to do.

I actually sent Reiki to Sharon the last 2 nights. The night after she died, i was holding a piece of paper with her name written on it, and the back of my hands were going hot, which i found unusual.

On occassions, she would ask me for advise. Also i know for a fact she was desperate for any help. So if i send her Reiki, i will send it with the only intention that it knows itself how to help her, as i wouldn't.

I believe we can send Reiki to those who have passed. Whether they accept it or not is ultimately up to them. If you feel comfortable with it why not try?

My brother-in-law committed suicide many years ago. It took 7 years before we had any contact with him from the other side. He told us that during this time he had been in healing.

I believe that there is a massive amount of support and caring available for those who have crossed, no matter what the circumstances. Just as we can get counselling here it is also available there. Your Aunt will have help to work through this.

Yes i did send her healing. I held her name on a piece of paper and what was strange was that the back of my hand was hotter than my palms. I know from what she told me that she used to feel terrible panic which could last for weeks. During these times she always needed someone constantly with her. Thing is 2 nights ago, for no reason i could think of, i felt really anxious. I tried to ignore it and carry on doing things but it was horrible. I was wondering if this was maybe because i had connected with her somehow.
Anyhow i'm hoping that without her physical body and her adrenal glands, i pray she no longer feels the panic.

So i take it you like John Edwards too! I honestly have never believed in mediums before him. I thought they were all fake and preyed on vunerable people, who desperately want to know that their loved ones are ok. But after watching him for over 3 yrs now, i believe he is definately genuine; still not sure about the others though.
