Hi to all. I'm a reiki 11 channel, attuned a few years ago, and, after a "leave of absence" I'm kind-of starting afresh with reiki now..... I'd appreciate any input/chat on a few questions I'm mulling over....Namely, how many guides generally are present to assist a reiki channel with a treatment? Does this number change over time - or do guides interchange? Is one's life-guide (or 'guardian angel' ) involved in reiki or separate to reiki guides? To ask a guide a question or to ask a guide for specific help in a treatment, at which point in the reiki session should one do so and is there a manner of doing so? Thanks for any replies/comments!!...

denisek,
Hi.
Guides and Teachers are very personal relationships. So how this works will vary some from person to person and 'guide to guide'. Guides do have their own agendas, afterall.
Similarly, there is no 'guide formula' for Reiki sessions, Teaching or attunements.
:)
Enjoy the return to Reiki practices.
Cheers,
RC

As RC mentions. Alot of it is personal. People can have a varying number of guides. As far as when to ask for assistance I'd say the answer is whenever you want to during the treatment.

Hi Denise,
:)
As far as any specific number of guides that will be with you through the healing: I don't believe there is a set number. I also don't think you need to put much inquisitive energy into it. If you ask for guidance and you feel guided....what more information do you need? I believe you'll be more comfortable with the flow of energy and the presense of whomever is there if you just concentrate on the task at hand.
Always remember that the universe is your ultimate guide with reiki....just ask it...or find guidance from within...and flow, flow, flow.
love and light,
Jessica

I agree with all said but would also add that Guardian Angels are different from guides. In my experience, guides are those that have passed on and speak to us from "home" with a heightened intellect and energy. Guardian Angels are Angels (have never been human) that are assigned to us at birth to watch over us throughout this life. We also have other Angels and loved ones that visit us from time to time as needed.
May you enjoy whomever comes your way!

Hi,
I think guides are pretty unique to each of us and our own stages of development.
As I understand it(and I may well be wrong)Reiki guides have a different role to other spirit guides that may work with us. I understood that Reiki guides assign themselves to us and work with us when we work with Reiki. My own experience too is that these guides also can change. Over the last couple of months I have felt a different, stronger energy working with me. I have been working for the first time with someone with cancer and I feel that is perhaps why my Reiki guide has changed. With regards to working with Angels, you can call upon Archangel Raphael(the Angel of healing) to work with you.
With regards to asking Reiki guides for help, I always ask at the beginning of a treatment that my Reiki guides assist in the treatment, showing me or telling me anything that is relevant to the treatment and can help. At the end I thank them for their assistance.
Enjoy being back with reiki :)

Otoharo!
Denisek, I agree with the gist of what others are saying. I will add that I had training in Inner Peace Movement many years ago to take readings on people to tell them about their guides which we called consultants. They do not guide per se, only offer suggestions like a board of consultants. Usually a person had from 1 to 7 guides that stayed in their aura at all times. Except when that person were being self destrutive. they would temporarily leave so that their energy did not augment the destruction. These are general and not related specifically to reiki.
Sometimes due to the needs of the life purpose of the person, or even the particular project that a person was choosing to participate in, another set of guides would be nearby, but not seen in their aura.
My reiki training made no mention of guides at all.
I continue using the guides I have always had. I am aware that at times there is someone with me that is specific to reiki and is helping. It does not matter to me who it is. They know, that is enough for me.
If you have opportunity to have a facial picture taken by kirlian photography you will readily see the guides in your aura.

i would say that yes, guides change over time and sometimes per circumstance, and that there are many different kinds of guides upon whom an individual may call for assistance or guidance.
i would propose that you spend time to discern more about the guides who are with you currently, and if you desire a broader context, to consult different metaphysical traditions for their ideas of how many may be involved, and what function they have. the simplest way is to meditate with this intention, and to ask questions when you receive some information, in order to examine it and place it into context.
some folk hold to certain teachings about numbers, functions, and hierarchies of guides (i.e. human, angelic or extraterrestrial guides, etc.). none of these are right or wrong, if they work. my first model was christianity, and the second spiritualism, yet my experiences and constant questioning and refinement have brought me to my own system of awarenesses. you can do the same for yourself.
i was taught that there are no reiki guides per se, but that other guides, for example some with medical experience, or with protective functions, may be asked in to help during reiki sessions. i was also taught that i could call on past reiki masters up until and including dr. usui, as well as other healing masters such as jesus christ, for help as guides. i have felt the sensation of other hands on the back of my own during some sessions when i have asked for these masters. this next is a non-reiki example but while sending prayers to a friend undergoing surgery, i had a vision where i was in the room and i saw angels standing behind all medical personnel, as well as crowding the room -- i do not believe there is a limit on spirit guides.
to ask a guide anything, simply do so with humility and respect, whenever you wish, with intent that any information received be for the greatest good of all -- the challenge is to listen for, and to the answer. i may invite my guides, the clients' guides, and others to come before a client arrives, thus setting my intention early, and i ask that i be made aware of where to go (on the clients' body) for their greatest good, etc. if i need more information during the session, the questions are asked mentally.
namaste, and welcome back to reiki,
lunarreikin

Hello Folks,
I would have to agree that each persons experience with their guides is different, just as we all different. Just as Reiki flows different for each of us. Speaking of guides is a subject that is dear to me. LOL When I get to talking about them, I realize that I have become one of those people I used to roll my eyes at.
My Mom passed away in 2001. Last year as I learned about the possibity of using a pendulum to answer yes and no questions, it was brought to my attention that this might be away for me to "speak" with my Mom. One day my cat was chasing an invisible toy... I used a round alphabet chart and asked, Who is playing with Dizzy? I got L-o-n-n-i-e. I remember thinking, Hey, that doesn't spell Mom! I must have made him spell the name half a dozen times. LOL It was my first intentional contact with one of my guides.
Since then I have met quite of few. Yes, my Mom and father's father came in but so have a number of other guides and spirits. Oh and yes, one pest who even though I had to learn to block the little liar, taught me to better focus my intent and to monitor who I speak with.
I feel that our guides are always near. Just a call away. I have found they each have different reasons for being with me as well as unique personalities. Lonnie is my "gate keeper". If I don't get an introduction through him, I ain't talking. LOL Furthermore, Lonnie guides me with use of crystals, Zuir with elixers, Urt with teaching about Bear Spirit, Artimis is new to me and I believe assists me with Reiki. Sometimes they work together with me, other times, one on one.
It is highly likely that when I ask/pray for guidance, the flow of energy to share for the highest good, assistance and protection when sharing Reiki.. no telling who else may join in. A Reiki Master that has passed, a guide connected with the person I am sharing energy with. Might be one or two who are with us while we share enrgy, might be a whole herd hanging out.
Our guides are here to do just that, guide. I don't get detailed answers from them, but clues, like a candle that shines in the distance so that I might journey in the right direction, to search for my "path".
If you have not already gotten to know your guides, may you each meet them in your own way and share in the pleasure of getting to know the family you have with you in the spiritual realm.
Hugs and blessings,
Reiki_Bear
