What's In Your Reiki 1 Manual?

Hiya Everyone

I am currently putting together my first Reiki 1 manual and with the changing times we have I was wondering what extra's I could add to the manual.

What kind of stuff do you have in your own Reiki 1 manuals. (Apart from the usual hand positions, history etc.

Ok. Did a R1 class this wekend so it should be fresh.

1. Introduction page (tell them what your going to say)

2. A bit of info about Reiki (anyone spending hard earned money to join one of your classes will have looked into the background of Reiki.)

3. When to use Reiki (An assurance that Reiki can't harm and to encourage students to experiment when they leave you - you can't make a healer in the time a class takes)

4. When NOT to use Reiki (emphasising COVER YOUR ARSE AND NOT STUPID BE YOUNG JEDI)

5. Reiki FAQ's (The questions no-one seems to want to ask in case they appear dumb in front of others)

6. Extra info about Reiki use (always emphasising the students own intuition)

7. Self Healing Positions (photos)

8. Healing Others (photos)

9. Reiki on Animals (brief 1 page into and location of the 'key' chakra)

10. Guides and how to encourage them to work with you

11. As I teach around the UK a class summary and transcript (tell them what you've said)

12. My contact details, again the encouragement to use their own intuition but with the open welcome to contact me if needed and if in my home town the offer to come along free to the next Reiki 1 class if they feel a bit unsure about anything we've done.

Hope that helps

ogre,

:-)

Likely, but then again, maybe not.

My sister hadn't heard of Reiki and had no idea what it was when I asked her if she would like to attend a class with me as her birthday present. She said sure. Not realizing that she didn't know what it was I didn't offer information. Later I found out (after the class) that she had no idea what Reiki was. I asked her why she didn't tell me and her response was that she was sure that I had looked into it and that was enough for her.

What trust. But it does illustrate that maybe not everyone has the background information we assume they do.

Just a reminder that people aren't always as informed as we are (or we as they, depending on the subject matter)

:-))

aura,

There is an old thread on this. Maybe you would like to check out thread #58514

Might give you some info.

PS

My 'extras' are a mix of things I think they might be interested in and things that will expand their working base and maybe foster some interest to look further.

Extras I include are some breathing exercises, meditations, and practices to begin moving energy in their own bodies. Some basic chakra and crystal info. A chart of acupuncture meridians. These are completely seperate from the Reiki info so there is no confussion about what is what. Beyond some basic information I do not offer instruction in these extras. They are after all extras and I am teaching a Reiki class.

Agreed, however the question was what do we have in the R1 Handbook. A persons knowledge is assessed in the pre-class days/weeks. People are pointed to their library/web to research.
