Hi all,
I have major issues with trusting the people i love. I dont know where this has come from as my family and partner has always been there for me and supported me and as far as i know they have never done anything to break the trust between us. I have no reason not to trust them. Yet i constantly find myself battling the truth i have somewere along my life gained the thought that if you never trust then you will never be hurt. I know this is wrong but its what i feel!!
Do you think that i have brought these thoughts with me from a previous life, is that possible??

There are more reasons for loss of trust than we commonly think of. It doesnt always have to be someone deliberately hurting us or letting us down. We can have bigger expectations than what is realistic, we can be naive & not see what others see in people, etc. There is also the issue of how we feel about ourselves. I cant say if your situation is related to past lives. It may not be possible to determine "why", but learning to change how we think and react to situations is in our hands.

- could yo give an example of this distrrust you are feeling??

- generally, from a Jungian perspective some of the distrust issues you carry or that plague you may reflect some sense that others may not trust you - that in some way you are not trustworthy (or have acted in ways that leave others not trusting you)

- could this be karmic carry-over from a previous life in which perhaps you were not trustworthy? Sure. Is it necessarily so? No.

- some of this sounds like your Shadow poking its head out of your Unconscious - and the present life Shadow is probably not composed of past-life stuff - the present-life Shadow will reflect, well, this-life matters that have been pushed into the Unconscious (this process is one of which we are largely unaware as well).

Perhaps it is that YOU do not trust yourself. That may mean that you are untrustworthy in your opinion, or it may mean the opposite, that you are so powerful, you are afraid of your own power. That was the biggy for me. After reading the other posts, you have a whole bag of worms to dig through!

Hi John,

Sometimes we can project our fears onto others although it is often our low self esteem that is really the issue. Trust issues, jealousy etc. can all stem from us not feeling worthy enough of someone's love.

Sometimes it is helpful to look at issues from our childhood where we have felt 'let down' in one sense or another or past relationships (platonic ones included) where we have felt let down. This can lead to dents in our self esteem and a kind of expectation of being let down again. Sometimes our human psyche almost subconciously seeks to recreate these situations time and time again, to reinforce these feelings.

Have you considered exploring these feelings of mistrust with a counsellor? If they are causing real problems for you then it might well be worth it... :)

please don't 'fear' being hurt, (as you think this cannot happen if you don't give anyone your trust)
you trust Reiki don't you, this proves to me you can indeed 'trust'.
this is another 'learning curve' that has been sent your way to 'learn' how to deal with it, it will indeed bring 'UP' many issues untill you 'dig out' the truth, some will hurt, but Reiki being Reiki will let you find the truth behind your fear..
