hi i have done reiki one and two about 4yrs ago, but over the last 2yrs i havent been doing a great deal with it because i cant remember my symbols other than the first. but now that things have settled down i would like to get back into it all again but cant prove that i have done 1&2 cause my reiki master is in exile, had some not nice people harrassing her but i cant find her to get the certificates. would i have to do the courses all over again?

emmaxben,

- welcome to The Cafe. I am glad for your voice and light.
- I suspect one does not need any certificates to do Reiki with family and friends
>:-}}
- if you are thinking of charging for Reiki services then check to see if a license is required where you are (your certificates are not licenses but might be needed proof for obtaining a license)
- as for the symbols? they can be found on the internet or in a variety of books
- hope this helps

Otoharo!
First of all, you do not need to know symbols, be reiki with yourself I mean a lot! Get yourself really buzzing. Then be reiki with your friends and family. I suspect the symbols will come to you as you go. Who needs to see certificates? I never show mine now. I lost my reiki II certificate and I never did get my reiki III certificate and no one is the wiser. Of course I work out of my home and have calendar pictures from Lazaris that are like WOW! on the walls.

thanks for the quick response! no i was worried about whether i would be tapping into stuff that wasnt reiki when i did the symbols wrong. ive been too scared to do anything. i saw a few symbols that look simular to what i was taught but the ones i seen online make me wonder whether i was taught the right one! what concerns me moreso is the method in application and towhat im saying as i draw the symbols.
this is not for profit, just for me and my family

- yes, some minor variations in the symbols can be found even within very traditional Reiki - I would not worry about that
- I would recommend you use the traditional hand positions you were taught as a starting point and do those for a while - this will be the best way to re-enliven your connections to the flow of energy
- to keep as much of your own personal energy out of the Reiki simply focus your attention and Intention on getting the energy to the person receiving
- he or she will use the energy the best he\she can - try not to intrude your own ideas of what should happen or what you want to happen - just get the energy to the recipient
>:-}}
- if you picture the symbol(s) in your mind as you practice your Reiki that will be quite sufficient for now
- good luck
