Reiki on Pregnant Woman

Hello all,

My sister Stacy, who has had her tubes tied and (in an unrelated procedure) had one oviary removed has learned she is pregnant.

Needless to say she is quite overwhelmed with what this unexpected pregnancy brings. I know that eventually she'll be quite happy but right now she is an emotional wreck.

I would like to give her a reiki treatment but is there anything I need to be aware of? Like not to do on the stomach or anything?

Also, she is a high risk pregnancy because of scar tissue in her uterus.

judevine,

/*\ Namaste :-}}

- what test(s) did she have done to verify she is pregnant??

- "false pregnancies" are not unheard of

- if she is indeed pregnant then Reiki (hands-on or distance) should be just fine - as long as she gives permission first

Thanks for your advice!

She went to the doctor and had an ultrasound. She is definately pregnant. The baby is in the uterus (and not in the tubes). She is due May 28th.

Hi,

I received Reiki treatments through my second pregnancy and I self treated with Reiki all the way through my third pregnancy. I used to play a particular cd whilst doing my self healing. When my son was born, if ever he was fretful and I played the same cd he instantly calmed, I like to think that he associated the sound with the feel of Reiki in utero :) Both second and third born love Reiki and always ask for it if they are feeling unwell.

If you are worried then try just giving Reiki to her head, shoulders, heart chakra and feet. This should give her the calming effects without putting energy directly into the uterus. Later as the pregnancy progresses and you both feel more confident, you might progress to hands above her tummy.

Gentle Blessings
Helen

Namaste Judevine.
I stayed with my sis in law to help her out because hers was a high risk pregnancy. She had multiple problems almost everyday and responded very well to me giving her reiki. It helped her a lot and gave her emotional support aswell. I used hands on positions for her except her stomach because she was uncomfortable with the idea. otherwise she enjoyed the reiki sessions and was very thankful for the same. She gave birth to a healthy baby boy.
Wishing the best for your sister.

Hi! I'm coming to this thread a bit late, but I wanted to comment. I'm a birth doula, and I have a particular interest in Reiki and pregnancy/labor/birth.

I received my Master's attunement when I was pregnant with my second child, so she also recieved a Master attunement. I did Reiki quite a bit while I was pregnant.

Rather than skip the stomach, I found that I was led to focus there more extensively. The positions were held longer, and as my belly expanded, I had up to 5 hand positions for the stomach (three horizontally - as with the torso, both hands on the sides, and hands above and below - cradling). As the baby is growing so much, extra energy can only be beneficial. I know we're supposed to 'ask permission', but Reiki does not violate free will. If the baby doesn't want it, Reiki will not effect the baby. Period. But it would help the mother, if she is open to it.

I would also highly suggest that you send Reiki ahead to her labor. Every now and then when the thought came to me, I would send Reiki ahead to myself for the labor, because I knew I would not be able to concentrate on it then. I even sent it ahead to my midwife. I also found it helpful to send ahead to doctors appointments, especially if testing or internal exams were necessary. It helped me to relax and stay focused on the info I would be receiving.

Congratulations and best of luck to her!
