Iam very interested in reiki and becoming a master. I have MS and am a RN. The stress is toomuch for me but healing is in my soul I need to still be able to earn a living and support my family but I feel my spirit leading me this way. Can anyone tell me what happens after you learn reiki and where to go from there?

Hi, Mary,
In my experience, in the Midwestern United States, most people who learn Reiki continue in their jobs, but learn how to make them less stressful. Some eventually are led to create a new line of work, but this often takes a very long time. Building a "healing " practice takes alot of work and time and support. As an RN, from my perspective as a hospital worker, you might have a good "in" to eventually set up something creative in a hospital setting with your Reiki. I think practicing Reiki changes YOU as a person, and you will begin to see things from a different perspective. One of the things you might learn is that you don't always know where you are being led, but the journey is exciting. It is not like enrolling in a nursing program and knowing you will probably be a nurse.... it is a whole new way of approaching life, being led by Spirit. I HAVE noted that those with RN degrees or Massage Therapy training have alot of opportunity to use Reiki. Probably as an RN, you may have to deal with more "issues" in doing so, but that is where the growth comes in. Just one perspective here.......let's see what else is said.
Enjoy the journey!
Love,
Feather

Hi:
I also agree that most people tend to keep their full time jobs and do Reiki on a PT bases. However, from experience I have found that teaching Reiki has proven to be not only a wonderful experience but also has provided a good income. At this time I am continuing on a part time bases but know if I decided to only do teaching & practice that the universe will provide the students and clients.
Please don't think I say this in such a way as I am a believer that I will sit back and just let everything happen but I will allow the universe to guide me int he direction that is for my highest good.
Love and light,
Copper

hi,
Feather is very right here in saying work on your stress levels,(helping people in Reiki can also be stressful)
really you must heal yourself before you can heal others... one step at a time eh!
working 'with a practice in a hospital situation' won't earn you a living, it should be done with love for your fellow man & should be free, they have enough to contend with with out a $$$ situation in a hospital.
please don't use Reiki as an opt out because you feel stressed with the job your in & all thats going on... again Feather is right, Reiki will show you the way when ready, & 'enjoy' the ride...please 'help yourself first', I think that is the golden rule of Reiki, then you can & will help others....

Hi,
You may be in a good position to coordinate a Reiki Volunteer Program as was done at Hartford Hospital. Their website describes in detail how to do that.
