Namaste.
Yes, once I gave reiki to my uncle who was in his last stage of cancer. His people knew that he was not going to live for long but asked for reiki, thinking that it may give him freedom from the suffering. He died peacefully. Though I felt sad, I comforted myself that it was death for his body and not the soul.

Life and death. And suffering. And choice. Quite a set of questions.
My father let me send energy over to him long distance (and hands-on, whenever we were in the same place) after he was diagnosed w/ pancreatic cancer. I'm grateful that he allowed me to participate in his journey in that way.
A little over a year ago, I had my hands on his shoulder and chest, sending reiki and other energies to help w/ pain relief, as he passed away.
A few years before that, a family friend had cancer all over his abdomen, and he refused the offer (that I made through my parents) to send energy over to him. At the end of his life, he needed morphine shots every 5 minutes. That was hard, but I honored his choice.

Wendy,
/*\ Namaste :-}}
- I would not be a bit surprised that, in a few cases, a good dose of Reiki (permission of course, for me) as one dies and encounters the Bardo will help make that task more bearable and perhaps even successfull - thus being lifted from the cycle of death and re-birth

I was giving Reiki to my Father when he passed over. In fact he did have Reiki everyday in the last 2 weeks of his life.
He was not expected to live, major organ shut down, his veins closing up and gangerene in the leg that they didn't amputate for the same reason. Hence the he will die soon diagnosis.
He did have a peacefull passing, If Reiki helped, and I am sure that it did, then I did all that I could.

Rob,
/*\ Namaste :-}}
- well, my brother has been receiving Reiki from us (permission, of course) ever since he was first diagnosed with lymphoma 8 years ago (had full chemo regimen at that time) - he had a recurrence of the lymphoma after 4 years and 10 months - had a second series of chemo (Reiki all the while) and is still in remission as of today and feeling pretty strong (a low percentage of lymphoma patients of this type have second remissions that go this long) and building his own home-based business
- so does Reiki help??
- he never asked us to not Send so I suppose there was some value to our distance Reiki work and he said that chemo side-effects seemed eased more than on days when we may have forgotten to send

Hi FK
From what I am told, the after effects of Chemo are horrendous and Reiki has now been used a lot on people recivecing both Chemo and radiotherapy to very good effect.
I hope your Brother stays well :-}}
