I have a friend who is in her 7th month of pregnancy. Lately she has been having sever itching problem that keeps her awake the whole night. She has triend various kind of creams and lotions with no effect. The doctor is insisting on steriods which is not very comfortable with. I am not sure how to heal her.
If somebody has healed a person with this kind of problem, please help.

Hi,
Welcome to the cafe :)
Has your friend had liver function tests to rule out obstetric cholestasis? If not then, please, please tell your friend to go back and see her obstetrician or midwife as soon as possible. I had severe itching in my last two pregnancies which turned out to be obstetric cholestasis. This can have serious implications for the baby if left unchecked and your friend should ask for liver function tests to check her bile salt levels. If you look up on the internet you will find lots of information about it.
If this has already been ruled out(which hopefully it has) and the itching is general puritis, some steroid creams are safe to use in pregnancy, the doctor will know which ones are and you can also double check with a pharmacist.
Gentle Blessings

Thanks for your quick reply.
It is not that. She had it checked with the OB/GYN and her bile salts are also a lilttle higher than normal, but the kind of itching she is having should not be the reason enough for the bile salt level. IT is at 0.4 where as the normal is 0.3. They say that unless it is three times higher than this, it should not be so severe.
Is there a point in Reiki that I can try healing her to make her feel better? Can we try to give pancrease or any other point that you can think of where Reiki can be of some help. I have a second degree of Reiki.

reiki_enthusiast,
/*\ Namaste :-}}
- welcome to The Cafe, I am glad for your voice and light.
- is the itching generalized or localized somewhere? any rashes, vesicles, etc? If so then a dermatologist might be of some help
- reiki-wise maybe concentrate on her Thymus to see if immune system boosting might help
- and,if she requests, there are others here who will do some distance Reiki practices for her
Reiki All Around,
All Blessings,

Hi,
You might try some Reiki at the thymus. This may stimulate the natural histamines to kick in, which in turn might relieve the itching, depending on the cause. You also might want to Reiki her aura rather than directly placing your hands on her as if you get hot hands, it may make the itching worse.
Maybe others here know of some additional hand positions that might help....
She has my sympathies, I know how distressing the constant itching can be.
Gentle Blessings

I suggest boosting your friend's kidney energy, which in TCM is responsible for the function of the reproductive system.

Hi,
If you place your hands in a T position so that one hand is placed on the collar bone and the other hand between the breasts on a woman (or just above to respect bodily privacy), that covers the thymus area. The thymus gland is located just above and behind the heart as I understand it.
Hope this helps.

Hi,
I also found this when researching it's exact position:
"THYMUS GLAND…Lying beneath the sternum (breastbone) and above the treachea (windpipe) and heart is the two-lobed thymus gland; each lobe is made up of LYMPHATIC tissue. The thymus gland plays a significant part in the establishment of the immune system from the 12th week of gestation until PUBERTY, after which it begins to shrink gradually."
Hope it helps.
Gentle Blessings
Helen

reiki_enthusiast,
Hi,
Besides Reiki to that little gland, one may also 'thump' one's Thymus. Hold together two or three fingers of one hand and firmly, but not heavily, rap the Thymus at a steady rate (maybe 1 rap per second or a little slower) for several minutes in the morning upon rising and just before falling asleep. A session at lunch time is not a bad idea either.
Cheers,
RC
