Hi Inca

Welcome... I think the first thing to ask is did your hands heat up? And without knowing what symbols were used
and how you were attuned I donn't know if you received I and II or not or just got a healing. For the next few days
do as much Reiki on yourself as you can,and your family or friends. feel the energy flow through you. If you were properly attuned you are Reiki. About books I have read so many and diden't find any that I diden't get something from. D. Stien's books are good, take what feels right from them and the rest just an oppionion.

Again welcome

Hi Inca
Try the Reiki source book and also Spirit of Reiki.
One you have read those 2, all others seem to pale into insignifiance lol

Hi inca,

The book Essential Reiki by Diane Stein (which I think is the one you mentioned) really is a pretty good book. It is well-researched at least, and is good for non-Traditional students and teachers. It gets into some things that I found difficult to comprehend the first couple times through, like the Ki Exercises chapter (a mess) and the material on Reiki and Enlightenment. I ended up making study guides for use in teaching and that helped me a lot. The book is a little contradictory in spots, but overall, not a bad text. Personally, I'm not a fan of the way she seems to dis half the human species based on sex, but that's my issue! If you'd like copies of the study guides I created I'd be glad to send them. Let me know.

Be good,

Ken

Ken Thank you for your reply I must agree I found parts of the book strange and she does contadict herself but on the whole I found it helpfull. How many hand positions should I be using as my Teacher said use my intuition! After passing my 1&2 my teacher asked me to practise on her and to see if i could identify any problem areas considering i wasnt shown any of the hand positions my hands knew where to do Reiki and i picked out two corect areas. Is it also true that Spirit Guides are just add ons as someone put it in a web site.I have always wanted to get in touch with mine and during myReiki 1 I did.Anyway Thanks again

Becky,

I can only tell you what I do, not what is correct for anyone else. It sounds like a cop-out to say "do what feels right" or "follow your intuiton" but it does seem to come down to that. I do three head positions for the front of a person: over the eyes, at the temples, and over the jaws. Some people will put their hands under a person's head and do the occipital ridge where the skull meets the neck. I sometimes do but not always. Then I go to the throat/collarbone area but I am careful not to cover the throat (voicebox) in case someone has an issue with communicating verbally (I don't want to further restrict their ability to speak their truth - maybe I couldn't anyway, but just in case!). I then do the heart area. As a male practitioner, I will place my hands over another male's heart. For females, I place my hands above the heart or go below the breastbone on both sides. Then to the upper belly, then to the lower belly, then to the upper abdomen, hands off and above the lower abdomen, then the legs, knees, shins, and feet from the top. I spend a lot of time at the feet as I usually feel drawn to do so. I think it might help my "psychic flow" to do so. For the back, I do two positions for the head: one over the top of the head and temples, and one over the occipital ridge and upper neck. Then I do the neck, the upper shoulders, the shoulder blades (great for pinched nerves), the upper back, the spine all the way down, the kidney areas (great for the adrenals which regulate response to stress), the tailbone, the backs of the thighs, the backs of the knees, the calves, the ankles, and then the feet. I usually do a top to bottom aura brush and grounding swirls at the feet. It takes about an hour depending on my guidance and intuition.

The more you practice, the more you'll get a basic sequence you're comfortable with. Then your guidance and intuition should be helpful in making situational adjustments.

As far as your little boy is concerned, I believe you can work on him and it will be as effective - if not more so - as all the distance healing that might come his way. Nothing is more healing than a mother's love - Reiki or no Reiki. Regular medical care is also important, but I know you know that.

I wish you and your son the best. I will keep you both in my thoughts. I wish you and your family a great holiday!

Ken

Hi Becky,

You're very welcome. Remember, though, "free advice" is sometimes worth exactly what you pay for it!

I'm glad to hear your son is feeling better! It IS, as you said, a "confidence thing" and like Tony Little says, "You can do itttt!" Sorry about that...couldn't resist...

I am schoolteacher, by profession. I'm teaching 3rd graders this year (usually I teach high school but it's where I am right now and it's actually pretty cool) and I find they need a lot of basic instruction before they can apply what they have learned. I generally give as much info as possible to my students so that they have as much background knowledge as possible when practicing new skills or acquiring new content knowledge. Some teachers give just the bare-bones basics and then let their students go to "learn" on their own.

Same with some Reiki teachers. That's how I was trained, really. I love my teacher but I had to spend a lot of time on my own to learn this stuff. I was fortunate to have some time available to do it and the knowledge of how to teach (and learn) material. Most people don't. She thinks I'm better for it and maybe she's right. To me, it's kind of like showing someone a car, and saying that the steering wheel is for turning the car, that "D" is for going forward, then throwing them the keys and telling them they'll figure it out as they go. I'm not sure that that's "teaching"...more "facilitation"...

Now for the ubiquitous "disclaimer": We all learn and teach in our own ways. Do what works best for you.

I actually had a little girl come up to me today with a loose tooth and she was in obvious pain and looking to me for help. I told her to take her hand and put the heel of her palm over her tooth whenever it started to hurt, and that it would go away soon. Then I asked my guides to help her and used my intent to send her distance healing when she needs it. She smiled right away and went off with her hand over her jaw. She seemed fine the rest of the day. That's what this is all about for me.

Nice talking with you! Good luck! Ken
