Reiki & labour

Hello all,

I just have to share this one ... I just came back from giving reiki to a friend who is about to have a baby. Alas & unfortunately I did not get to stay for the whole labour & delivery, but we did use reiki to bring on labour.

Her due date was today and she was concerned that she'd go over & have to be induced. So we did one treatment on Monday with the intent of preparing her and the baby for labour, and one this morning, with the intent of starting labour. She had her first contraction less than a minute into the session!

It was an incredible feeling. I used the symbols, and in addition to invoking my reiki guides & the ascended masters, I also invoked a "midwife" guide, and she kind of took over. It was hands-off reiki, as I could feel my friend's energy body from about three feet away. I could tell from the feel of the energy what was happening and it just amazed me to no end, because this was something entirely new. I could feel the cervix opening, and I could at one point even feel the baby: the head, the shoulders, the back and the little bum, and incredible warmth and love flowing towards him.

When we got to the hospital my friend was having contractions 2 to 4 minutes apart and was 3 cm dilated - but she didn't feel any pain. Unfortunately I couldn't stay because after that the medical estabishment took over. I hope all is going well. I have been sending distance reiki, but it doesn't feel quite the same.

One day I would like to be there for the whole thing & see what reiki can do for the final stages of labour. If there is anyone out there who has done reiki through full labour & delivery, I'd love to hear about the experience!

All best (and happy holidays!)

Judith

What a gift for both of you! Thanks for sharing. I think Reiki is a perfect companion in labour! Wish I had known about it when I had all my kids. And hopefully some day, we will have the VOICE and power to take Reiki wherever it needs to be!
Blessings,
Feather

I know there will be some that say what you did was not quite "right" but I would have loved to have felt the love in the room when you were working. It sounded like a beautiful, group experience, the way a child should be brought into this world. I wonder if the baby enetered the world a bit more peacefully?

Bless you,
Tracey

An update ...

The baby was born at 6:14 this morning, a healthy little boy. Alas, mom's labour "stalled" at 8 cm dilation, so she was given something to "speed it up", and then she needed an epidural after that, but in the end everything came out well. As I said, I'd really love to reiki someone through a full labour to see what reiki does for the pain!

Cheers,
Judith

Dakota,

The peace in the room was incredible. Yes, it is the way birth should be -- and could be, if the medical establishment hadn't taken it over! Next time I'm going to give reiki to the mother until her water breaks, or until they drag me out of the room, whichever comes first :)

Cheers,
Judith
