I've heard that Reiki can help release toxins in your body. Is it normal to have violent symptoms similar to food poisoning the day after reiki?

Hi,

Is this a one off or does it happen every time after Reiki?

I know one practitioner who had to stop a Reiki session half way through whilst working on her husband and go and be violently sick. I have heard of upset tummies after Reiki attunements and also headaches. Usually the more one receives Reiki, the less the after effects so to speak.

no, I have never heard of this after a normal Reiki session,...after 'an atunement' one can have a lot of different ailments off & on for a while...
maybe just a tummy bug you had coming on anyway, if it happens again, then you will know it has something to do with your Reiki sessions, maybe try a different practitioner if so..

I have experienced having reiki release the toxins from my body. In fact, I purchase kifir that has been made by a reiki person, for the purpose of its assistance in stimulating my body to release toxins. It takes time for the physical body to accomplish this, but reiki is the best adjunct in my opinion.

The first Reiki 1 class, there was no mention of anything like this. However, the next Reiki 1 class from a different teacher, this concept was stressed . Of note & I find this significant, the group exposed to the teaching of "releases" before hand did have students who experienced symptoms after attunement & with Reiki. This was foreign to me at the time. However, if you tell a group that this is the way it will be, a certain percentage of people will automaticaly comply.
The only time I have had significant symptoms I felt were connected to anything to do with Reiki was during my participation in a healing ceremony when I was Reiki 1. I was too inexperienced to realize that more than Reiki was being utilized. The next day I had a flu like syndrome which my teacher implied was the bad energy pulled from the sick person. Myself, I am of the opinion that I wasnt adequately prepared for this type of healing ceremony & should never have been included with level 3 practitioners & practitioners of other "disciplines". Do I think it was Reiki? No, I dont. There was a great deal of fear in that room as there was a diagnosis that terrified 2 of the people involved. Fear can produce physical symptoms. ( Ever have diarrhea before or after a final exam?)
Go into something will love in your heart & energy field or go in with fear & likely the aftermath will be different, IMHO.
On a day to day basis, we are exposed to numerous living beings and substances that we react to including food, germs & environmental toxins. Alcohol & improperly handled foods, molds, etc. have given me after effects Id prefer to forget!! :)
Always drink lots of water after Reiki.
No, it is not "normal" to have violent after effects after Reiki.

I have only had 3 sessions and it has happened after the last two. My next session is in a week so I guess I will find out then if there is a pattern

Were you giving the session or receiving?
I experienced "cleansing" bowel movements and dizziness after recieving two of my attunements and when I first was practicing Reiki, would sometimes feel ill after a session, but not any more. A few things I would suggest would be: whether you are giving or receiving, ask that the cleansing be more gentle!/ Be sure to drink plenty of water. / Look at your exposure to toxins and see if maybe there is something you have overlooked that the Reiki is trying to tell you about! Also, you might try an Epsom salt bath afterwards. Generally, when I have experienced a healing crisis or seen someone else doing so, "something" tells you that healing is happening and you "know" it is for the good. But even so, ask, ask, ask for the next session to be more gentle with you! Or better yet, state the intention firmly that it WILL BE GENTLE.
