The Reiki Cafe 

Ok People, I would love to get some feed back on this.

Today my massage teacher was demonstrating facial massage on me for the class. She is an energy worker but was not doing that at the time. to relax while she worked on me I was sending reiki to my kids and husband in Maine. She did not know I was doing this at the time.

When she finished she said that I burned her! She showed me her arm and she had an angry red "burn" mark from her wrist to her thumb! She said it burned like a first degree burn. She washed her hands to get rid of any residual energy and the burn went away after about 20 minutes.

There was no use of oils or lotions so it was not a reaction of any kind and she said she felt it happening as she was working on me.

Is it possible that I did somehow give her and energy burn?! I have Never had this happen before and now I am a bit nervous. She commented that she felt a tremendous amount of energy coming from me. She was sitting at my head and was working around crown and 3rd eye.

She remarked on Friday that I was putting out some very powerful energy then too.

I should also mention that Thursday afternoon duringa meditation I experienced being walked thru a doorway by two "people". Once thru the doorway they began to work on me. They used a CKR type symbol and opened my crown chakra wide. They also pulled things out of my crown chakra. I said "while your at it can you work on my heart chkara, I have been having some trouble there too" They did work on my heart chakra then I was led back thru the doorway. I felt amazing afterward and have been feeling more like I just had an attunement. Things seemed brighter, I have been relaxed, clearer thought, etc.

Maybe this relates to the burn in some way?

- it has all the 'wrist' marks , as opposed to 'ear marks', (bagl) of personal energy out of 'channel', so to speak

- it could, of course, have been your personal energy as well but somehow I don't think so

- I doubt it had anything, per se, to do with Reiki

- we all know Reiki cannot harm, afterall. Right??

Dear Tracey,
When I was new to Reiki, I was on the phone with a friend who complained that the phone was burning her ear & accused me of sending her Reiki. She eventually hung up on me. At the time I thought I was doing something unconsciously or that she was drawing Reiki...but she later admitted to having a battery problem in the phone and that combined with her fear of me sending "something" may very well be involved...she was also under a great deal of life stress...she was interested in Reiki but afraid due to prior dabbling in occult arts in her youth....well, we do have powerful imaginations. Under hypnosis we will believe that we are capable of things that normally we would deny.
The fact that the massage therapist said "You burned me" before even considering what might have happenned makes me stop & think. I would not take the "blame" for this event and be observant (without drawing a conclusion) to what happens next.

Thank you, I do plan on being more mindful of this situation in class. My energy is higher when in this particular class and it warrants further observation as to why. It cold be that I feel very comfortable being my true self in this class and my gifts are being released to a higher extent or it could be that many of the people in this class are needy in their own ways and we are in a very tight environment. All our energies flowing at once and together makes for a powerful combination. We had a teacher break down into tears when observing our class work on each other. She said our energies combining was such a beautiful thing to see and feel.

Dear Tracey,

Interesting experience, indeed! My first intuition says that your teacher felt the energy you were sending and, consciously or unconsciously, began taking it. I think the reason for this occurence lies in her intent, not in yours.

If you are surrounded by all these people in an energy-flowing environment mindfulness will be of supreme importance. It is very likely that personal energy is being exchanged/drawn.

Tracey, I listen to everything you say, because i wonder who you really are? Someday you will know. In the meantime, yes, stay mindful. Trust yourself first, before others.

When in a reiki share a number of years ago, a friend of mine was experiencing some difficulty with her heart. As she turned over on her stomach, I happened to be the one whose hands were over the heart chakra area. She burned by hands! It was the hottest hot I have ever felt that did no damage to me. If it heft my hands red, I did not notice. We have no idea really, what reality truly is.

I had another thought here. Heat in relation to energy is cased from resistance. when you look it from that standpoint, perhaps she had resistance to the energy, in stead of you.

yep energy can burn...I had been giving myself reiki on my bad knees, after i had done, you could see every finger mark in 'bright red', it took ages to go.......
I must have drawn so much, (as it must have been needed)...
maybe this women is in bad need of reiki, reiki goes where it is needed ...right!!! she should not have panicked & washed her arm, reiki can't harm, & wow does she need some to have picked up on it,....you clever girl ....

- do some study of the meridian system of the body - this should be much more helpful than any short explanation I might be able to concoct here

- basically, you will note that the meridians are "pathways" and that major pathways "connect" the hands and the Heart Center (and elsewhere , of course)

- it is along the meridians that energy normally traverses the body and this can be particularly more intense duirng such "treatments" as Rolfing, massage, accupressure, etc - both for practitioner and client

- energy can become "diverted"

- suppose one has a massage therapist who, in the midst of a a deep tissue massage, is somehow reminded of something that stimulates thoughts to which anger are attached - this lack of mindfulness could result in an unintended energy burst or the unwanted and unexpected addition of this emotional energy to the process already in progress

- what you describe as a "burn" mark could result

- and, it can occur even without any "touch" involved - more than once I have seen the process develop with my own eyes during visualization excercises with pain patients

She is a bit difficult to figure out but she has been very nice to me. Perhaps some of the energy i was sending to my family was diverted. Ah well, some mysteries are meant to stay that way. we can only be thankful for the experience!

A group focused on healing creates awesome energy. It seems that we are able to stretch a bit farther together. When I am with others focused on peace & healing, it is easier for me to focus on that intention & maintain that focus.
If you think about it, public worship has much the same effect. Reminds me that "where one or more are gathered in my Name, there also am I". IMHO,the first lesson in Reiki is self healing. The next is assisting others to self heal. Perhaps the third is uniting together with good intention? That goal is really not as easy as it sounds.
