Can anyone suggest hand positions for hormonal problems?

Many thanks.

Firekeeper,

Namaste :))

Ah yes knowing the right ones might be helpful lol

It's the ones responsible for controlling the female cycle and the moods etc. associated with it. I wasn't sure whether treating the pituatary gland might be helpful?

Do you think that Ketsueki-Kokan would be helpful too?

I seem to be putting the 'moan' into hormone lately and want to try and remedy it as naturally as possible :))

Hi Wendy,

lol

I've been concentrating on the ovaries and uterus, just wondering if there was anywhere else to do with the process that might help :)

For the female sex cycle, the ovaries and uterus are indeed the areas on which to work. (For males, the equivalent would be the testicles and prostate.) And your suggestion about also working on the pituitary wouldn't hurt. In addition, kidney energy regulates the reproductive system, so when working on female reproductive system issues, I first charge the kidneys and then send energy from there to the ovaries and uterus. (Part of charging the kidneys can be to ensure that flow of energy in the kidney meridian, which begins just behind the ball of the foot, is unobstructed.) Anyway, good luck.

Hi Helen,

Hypothalamus and pituitary are responsible for stimulating production of many hormones. One type of estrogen is synthesized from cholesterol in the ovaries so maybe the liver could be a focus as well. You are dealing with probably the most complex system of hormones here.(just part of a larger system that is the most complex system of the body) If I remember anywhere nearly correctly at least half a dozen of them maybe more. Maybe focus on all of the organs that are involved in the endocrine system.

Helen,

- ahhhh, I had my suspicions but, as I always say, sometimes: it is the questions that matter

>:-}}

- I recommend adding the base of the skull (either hand will do) - bagl - to whatever other organs or glands upon which you put focus

- some added focus to Tanden may also prove beneficial (you might try Tanden in tandem with the base-of-skull position)

>:-}}

- yes, if there is someone you know who can do a ketsueki-kokan I recommend that as well

- take care,

Hi Rebecca,

Many thanks for your reply.

I will dig out some information on the endocrine system and take it from there.

would it be useful to spend more time on the back of the head? This is where the Pituitary gland is situated and is the "Master Gland" governing a variety of hormones including the reproductive systems.
Hope this helps

Otoharo!

I have found in myself that while I have my hands over my eyes, the first position, my body seems to direct the energy where the body wants it to be, immediately. Whether other people's bodies do that I really don't know.

Hi Finality,

Thanks for your reply.

I have often fallen asleep with my hands on my tummy giving myself Reiki with the intention that it go where needed. However I feel that I need to be more mindful and focused with the issues that I am dealing with right now :)

Otoharo!

Oh, yes, I agree. Most of the time, I had to be actively participating in the energy at each position.

Helen,

It just occurred to me that I could've described things more specifically. Use of energy differs according to what sort of imbalance is in the underlying condition.. What I've tended to see in autoimmune conditions and perimenopausal issues is yin deficiency.

Following is a sequence that I did while working on someone who was going through hot flashes. The condition is one of kidney yin deficiency, resulting in kidney yang moving everywhere uncontrolled (hence the feeling of heat). The remedy was to bring in more yin energy (water-based, and flows from the ground up) to balance out the kidney yang. I visualized standing in a cold mountain stream, and breathing the water up into my feet (through the yongquan points, the first points on the kidney meridians in the soles of the feet), then up through the bones of my legs, then up through the rest of my body, then through my hand and into the recipient's kidneys. After filling her kidneys w/ yin energy, I sent it out through the rest of her body, especially up to her head. At that point, she said it felt as if there were ice packs on her face. Then I maintained the flow of yin energy for awhile (up from the ground, through me, into her kidneys, then through the rest of her body) w/ the intent of balancing out her kidney yang energy.

I don't know if that's at all related to the basis for your question in this thread, but there it is anyway, in case it might be helpful.

Hi Bruce,

Many thanks for sharing this information.

Funnily enough usually when I receive hands on Reiki, the hands on my face always feel ice cold, although not when I self treat.

I will be seeing a consultant gynaecologist tomorrow morning, so hopefully he will be able to do some tests and give me a clearer picture of what might be going on.

Thanks again.

Gentle Blessings
