The Reiki Cafe 

I am getting my Reiki III attunement after a four year gap since my Reiki II. I dont feel I should call myself a master yet until I have had a lot more experience. My third degree is being done over one day and part of me feels that I may not learn enough. Is there anyone else who feels that the term Reiki Master can be seen as a way to make money? I have heard people say things like, "you can make two or three hundred pounds to attune people" I almost feel the need to apologise for charging for attunements.
Now Im confused!

Hi allycat,

Well they say we never master Reiki and that Reiki masters us. I think that is probably very true :)

You will always find a few drawn to Reiki just to make big money and then there will be genuine RMs who really want to teach and make Reiki accessible because they believe in it. At the end of the day you will need to charge fees to cover your teaching materials, your venue and your time, what you charge and how flexible you are will be up to you :) I do believe that people need to pay something to learn Reiki, in order to take it seriously and value it, but I also believe it should be affordable to all. I actually had one student once who wanted to rush through all the levels as quickly as possible so that she could set up business 'selling Reiki'. I did not feel comfortable with her motivation and so suggested that she find another RM to take the next levels with.

I like to hope that intuitive students can search out genuine RM's as opposed to those just in it for the money :)

I'm with you on that...I like to think that if we stick to what we believe and how we want to be we will draw the people to us that we deserve. I have a lady not far from where I live and work and she is undercutting me big time. I have to make a living from my work and she is lucky enough to have the financial support from her husband so that it is just a hobby for her. At first I was angry and hurt that she was doing this to me when in reality she is doing nothing to me and she will attract what she needs to attract just as I will. I had to forgive myself for ungracious thoughts and send her love. Hopefully things will improve and I can relax a little! Just for today, do not anger just for today do not worry.

My reiki III was planned to cover a year, and I audited all the classes of reiki masters within a hundred moile radius of me. This is so very helpful. Every teacher was a little bit or a whole lot different from each other one. I would not trade with anyone in this respect. Even after a year, I was not deemed ready yet for the attunement and that took two days. And even then if was some years later, that I was able to accept the power of it fully. I recommend not to take this lightly.

Thank you Finality, I understand what you are saying. You have made me realise that I am probably undertaking this stage simply for my own experience. This is not done lightly and is being done by a good friend of mine whom I trust. There should be no reason why it cant be taken at a deeper level later should there?
