The Reiki Cafe 

Can anyone tell me what the significance of the following might be? While doing a Reiki on one of my clients when I was working on her head I had a strong image of the grim reaper, scythe and all! I asked for help and protection from the archangels and moved on down her body. When I got to her feet I had a strong image of a unicorn. Can anyone tell me the significance of these? I didnt tell her what I had seen, especially the grim reaper! I understand the significance of him, or at least the obvious ideas come to mind.

Hi,

The unicorn has any number of associations depending on culture. Interestingly (to me at any rate), although the unicorn is considered to be a fabulous and magical creature the christ is associated with it (white for purity and the horn for an 'invincible sword'; this also may relate to the unicorn being transformed into the dove in some traditions). The grim reapper is fairly obvious. So what you may have sensed or imagined were thought-form representations of two very Key aspects of the unconscious: the Shadow and the Golden Shadow;

I feel it is important to be sure these were not your own projections, active imagination, etc. As such, I would say it was well you did not say anything to your client.

I sometimes suspect my imagination can run away with me. Funnt though, in the same instance I kept getting the name Maggie then at the end of the session she had tears running down her cheeks and said that she had seen her dead mother in law and her name was Maggie.
(If I could capture on film what my imagination it would make great cinema)

Dear Allycat,
Reading your post & RC's post reminds me that what comes to mind during Reiki....can be misleading, especially if we rely only on our perspective.
It seems as if the client explained the meaning of the symbols for you.
Is the energy we ( practitioner & recipient) utilize together in the energy connection of Reiki stronger than our individual energy alone, enabling us to pick up more than we could individually? I have found that to be true in my experience.

Hi,

Those are the times when I might ask of a client (before anyone says anything) something like: "Does the name Maggie mean anything to you?" Or, perhaps, "do you know Maggie?" The more often we get verifications of our true 'sensings' (versus active imagination) the less we have to doubt ourselves or seek the opinions of others.

And, dream-life would make great footage as well.

Hi There,
So happy to hear that you have a wonderful gift of sight while you do reiki. With this gift of clairevoyance it is important for you to develop a list of symbols and what they mean to you. This way your guides can communicate with you more effectively. You will continue to add to this list the more you work. Like the others expressed, be careful to be a witness to the healing and not inject your own visions and emotions into the session or information. As a clairevoyant, though, you must learn to filter the information given to you thru your senses so you can utilize the information shown to you by your guides. And yes, confirm what you see or hear with you client. In the beginning this will help you build your trust in your gift.

I like the idea of the combined energy amplifying the healing. I think I may focus more on that aspect in future. Probably need to keep more notes to monitor it.

Funny how it takes someone else to point out our gifts. I was never very confident that it was clairvoyance. What a good idea to keep notes and start to build up a "library" of images and what they mean to me. It will show recurring symbols and ideas.
If I mention anything to clients I tend to dismiss the gift as nothing much and often say I am not a clairvoyant. I think probably because my worry is that people will want more of that aspect of the treatment and I wont be able to deliver. I have a big thing about not wanting to make a fool of myself or putting myself up as something that I then cant deliver.
